Budget Highlights

Power to make inquiry, in case where case is pending, was with AO after taking approval of Pr. CIT or CIT. Now, all ACIT and above are allowed to make inquiry without approval.

This may result in misuse of power where there is no proceedings.

Sec 234F: Fee for late filing of income tax return prescribed:

ITR filled upto Dec- Rs. 5000
After that - Rs. 10,000

Rs. 1000 if income does not exceeds Rs. 5 lakhs

Revised return cannot be filled beyond Assessment Year.
