Section 420 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) deals with the offense of cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property. This section makes it a criminal offense to deceive someone in order to gain something of value, such as money, property, or services.
According to Section 420 IPC, whoever cheats and thereby dishonestly induces the person deceived to deliver any property to any person, or to make, alter or destroy the whole or any part of a valuable security, or anything which is signed or sealed, and which is capable of being converted into a valuable security, shall be punished with imprisonment of up to 7 years and/or fine.
In order for an act to be considered cheating under this section, it must involve deception or dishonesty, and the intent to cause wrongful gain or harm. The offense under Section 420 IPC is a serious offense and can have severe consequences, both legal and social.
