The Delhi High Court has asked HDFC Bank and the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to respond to a case where โน74.6 lakh was fraudulently withdrawn from a customer's account.
Manmohan Kumar, the account holder, said his phone number and email linked to the account were changed without permission. He also claimed a virtual debit card was created in his name without his knowledge.
While HDFC initially refunded the money, it later reversed the refund, stating that the transaction was legitimate. Kumar then approached the RBI, but it ruled in favour of the bank.
Unhappy with the outcome, Kumar has now taken the matter to the High Court, alleging serious lapses by the bank. The case is being heard by Justice Vikas Mahajan.
