On the occasion of the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking on 26th June 2026, Central DLSA is raising awareness to educate the public, especially youth, about the harmful effects of drug abuse and the dangers of illicit trafficking. The programme aims to promote a drug-free society through legal awareness, community participation, and preventive education. Participants shall be encouraged to adopt healthy lifestyles and spread the message of "Say No to Drugs, Yes to Life."

14.05.2026: CDLSA conducted a Legal Awareness Session at SSK-483, Baba Colony, Burari, Delhi, on the topic “Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education (RTE) Act, 2009.”

The session was conducted by Ms. Preeti Thakur, LAC.
The programme focused on creating awareness about the fundamental right of every child to receive free and compulsory education and highlighted the importance of preventing school dropout. Participants were informed about the key provisions of the RTE Act, the responsibilities of parents and educational institutions, and the legal safeguards available to ensure access to quality education for children.

The session also emphasized the role of education in empowering children and breaking cycles of social and economic disadvantage. Through interactive discussions, participants were encouraged to support continued education and contribute towards creating an inclusive learning environment for every child.

26.05.2026: CDLSA conducted a training programme for Nursing Students and Healthcare Personnel at St. Stephen’s Hospital, Tis Hazari, Delhi, on the topic “Understanding the Thin Line Between Error and Negligence, Legal Defences for Doctors, and Data Confidentiality.”

The session was conducted by Ms. Pooja Kaushik, LAC.

The programme aimed at strengthening legal awareness and capacity building among healthcare professionals regarding their medico-legal responsibilities and professional obligations. Participants were sensitized on the distinction between medical error and medical negligence, the legal principles governing professional liability, and the safeguards available to medical practitioners under the law.

The session also highlighted the importance of maintaining patient confidentiality, ethical handling of medical records, and compliance with legal and professional standards relating to data privacy. Through interactive discussions, participants gained valuable insights into medico-legal issues that arise in healthcare practice and the measures necessary to ensure responsible and legally compliant patient care.

22.05.2026: CDLSA conducted a Legal Awareness Session under the NALSA (Legal Services to Victims of Acid Attacks) Scheme at SSK-493, Jharoda, Burari, Delhi, on the topic “Rights of Acid Attack Survivors Including Victim Compensation Schemes and Their Entitlement under Various Government Schemes.”

The session was conducted by Ms. Manpreet Kaur, LAC.

The programme aimed at sensitizing women about the legal rights and protections available to acid attack survivors. Participants were informed about victim compensation schemes, rehabilitation measures, free medical treatment, legal aid services, and various welfare schemes designed to support survivors in rebuilding their lives with dignity.

The session also highlighted the role of Legal Services Authorities in facilitating access to justice, compensation, and institutional support for victims. Through interactive discussions, participants gained awareness regarding available legal remedies and government assistance mechanisms for survivors of acid violence.

The programme aimed at sensitizing community members about the importance of road safety and responsible behaviour while using roads. Participants were informed about basic traffic rules, safe driving practices, pedestrian safety measures, and the significance of wearing helmets and seat belts to prevent accidents and save lives.

The session also highlighted the legal consequences of traffic violations and emphasized the shared responsibility of all road users in ensuring safer roads. The programme aimed at sensitizing women and children about the harmful effects of drug abuse and the growing threat posed by illicit trafficking of narcotic substances. Participants were informed about the social, psychological, and legal consequences of drug-related activities, as well as the adverse impact of substance abuse on families and communities.

The programme aimed at sensitizing residents about the harmful effects of drug abuse and the legal consequences associated with the possession, consumption, and trafficking of narcotic substances. Participants were informed about the impact of substance abuse on health, family life, education, and employment opportunities.

The session also highlighted the importance of adopting a healthy and positive lifestyle, seeking timely assistance for de-addiction, and utilizing available rehabilitation and support services. Through interactive discussions, participants were encouraged to make informed choices and contribute towards building a drug-free and healthier society.

19.05.2026: CDLSA conducted a Legal Awareness Session at Ummeed Shelter Home, Jama Masjid, Delhi, on the topic “Legal Services to Persons with Mental Illness and Persons with Intellectual Disabilities (LSUM) Scheme, 2024.”

The session was conducted by Ms. Mamta Rani, LAC.

The programme aimed at sensitizing women and girls residing in the shelter home about the rights and entitlements of persons with mental illness and intellectual disabilities, as well as the legal assistance and support services available under the LSUM Scheme. Participants were informed about access to free legal aid, rehabilitation measures, welfare benefits, and mechanisms for protection of the rights of vulnerable individuals.

The session also highlighted the role of Legal Services Authorities in assisting victims of violence and marginalized individuals in availing legal remedies and institutional support. Participants actively engaged in the discussion and gained a better understanding of their legal rights and entitlements.
