Gramin Vikas Trust, Gujarat GVT firmly believes that communities have the capacity to take decisions and implement them effectively, if they have enough knowledge.

Our approach to development is defined by this belief. Gramin Vikas Trust (GVT) was established as an independent legal entity by KRIBHCO, a premier fertiliser company of India, in the cooperative sector under the Government of India. For the past one and a half decades, it has managed and implemented programmes for enhancing Sustainable Livelihood development and poverty reduction and empowering

communities to manage resources in rural and tribal areas, initially under direct control of KRIBHCO, and since 2000, independently. Initial funding was made available by DFID-UK. Vision - 2010

PRA exercise for IRMA students completed successfully in three villages of Dahod and Panchamahal districts. Students interacted intensively with local community and learnt practical uses of this exercise in rural development sector.

PRA (Participatory Rural Appraisal): is an approach used by non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and other agencies involved in international development. The approach aims to incorporate the knowledge and opinions of rural people in the planning and management of development projects and programs.

Next PRA is planned in three villages on 6th and 7th September, 2011. Students of IRMA, Anand, will have practical learning about this practice with community and GVT-PRA experts.
