India needs entrepreneurs for economic growth:
When the Europeans first arrived in India they found a country rich in culture, wealth, knowledge and resources. It was the the golden bird and it laid golden eggs. For a hundred and ninety years the British plundered and bore dividends from this country and when they left, well to put it mildly India was not the golden bird it once was; it was no longer a world leader, a prosperous nation. Poverty and hunger daunted the nation, not to mention the aftermath of the partition. Fastforward 66 years and if you look at the modern day India, you will find in this country a unique mixture of energy and idea, a blissful combination of youth and experience, a country trying ever so hard to break free from the chains that are holding it down, like a bird in a cage with an open door but its feet tied with a rope and just like that bird, once free from the rope the potential of this country is to soar high, high up and touch the sky.
That brings me to a very important point, the potential of India. What is the true potential of this country? Different people have different answers but I will sum all of it in one sentence. We have the potential of a seventh of the world. We are a country of over a billion people and while many look at our population with awe, I feel that if India can empower each and every citizen of this country to dream and feel that what they dream is within their reach, well then heaven on Earth will have a name, India. I know that is a Utopian vision but for a minute imagine what would it feel like to be living in a country where each and every of its citizen gets up every morning knowing that today they will do something productive, where all its children have a classroom to be in at 9 am, where the women of the country don’t see their gender as a minus point and walk step in step with their male counterparts, where the poorest of the poor doesn’t have to worry about two square meals a day and being a rich man is not impossible for anyone? India has the potential to be that land.
The current lot of politicians we have are not great as a bunch. There is hardly anyone whom I see is genuinely cares about the people. Quite a large amount of our politicians would not be able to run their trade in any other country other than India due to multiple reasons one of which is their qualification or rather the lack of it. Lets not get into the criminal cases filling the Indian courts involving our politicians. But you know all can be forgiven if the country makes progress, that is not happening, not at the rate it should. The Rupee has lost grounds, growth of GDP has slowed, a large number of rural areas still lack basic facilities and the list goes on and on. The basic point is the country is not where it should be and there seems to be no one to guide it to the end of this tunnel.
