RTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE IN THE LEGALTECH SPACE
Artificial Intelligence is in the process of transforming India’s legaltech ecosystem by automating repetitive and time-consuming tasks such as legal research, contract review, document analysis, and case management. AI improves efficiency, reduces operational costs and research time, and enables multilingual support, while also helping lawyers manage large volumes of data and identify relevant precedents more effectively.
There is, however, a common misconception that AI will replace lawyers or make judicial decisions. In reality, AI functions as an assistive tool that augments legal professionals and cannot substitute human judgment, ethical reasoning, or advocacy. AI is most effective when used in a hybrid model, where outputs are reviewed and validated by legal experts to ensure accuracy, fairness, and accountability.
AI also plays a growing role in legal awareness, helping non-legal individuals understand the applicability and relevance of laws, thereby reducing reliance on misleading or informal information and enabling more informed decision-making.
