IndiGo Mass Flight Cancellations (03.12.2025 – 05.01.2025) ✈️

IndiGo has offered refunds/alternate flights in many cases — but compensation is separate and many passengers are unaware that they may still be legally entitled to claim it under DGCA norms.

If your flight was cancelled and it was not due to extraordinary circumstances, you may be eligible for:
✔️ Monetary compensation
✔️ Refund or re-routing
✔️ Meals, hotel & assistance (where applicable)

Don’t miss your rightful claim due to lack of awareness. Check your eligibility and file properly.

✈️ Consumer Rights Win Against Air India

In a significant ruling, the State Consumer Commission came down heavily on Air India for failing in its duty to inform passengers about changes in flight timings.

In the case Rohit Bhagwat v. Air India Airways, the Commission observed:

“Onus lies upon the respondents/Air India to inform the passenger pertaining to flight's timing but respondents/Air India have failed to discharge its onus by leading cogent and convincing evidence.”

This clear dereliction of responsibility caused undue harassment and inconvenience to the complainant. Recognizing the distress and mental agony suffered, the Commission directed Air India to pay Rs. 50,000 as compensation, which also included litigation costs.

💡 Key Takeaway:
Airlines are not just service providers – they carry a legal responsibility towards their passengers. Non-communication of crucial updates such as flight rescheduling or delays can amount to deficiency in service and unfair trade practice.

⚖️ The decision highlights how consumer forums continue to act as a shield for ordinary passengers, ensuring accountability from big corporations and public carriers alike.

👉 If you’ve ever faced negligence by airlines, remember you have the right to seek redressal under the Consumer Protection Act.

⚖️ Supreme Court Reserves Verdict on Stray Dogs in Delhi–NCR

The Supreme Court has reserved its verdict on the ongoing debate around relocation and management of stray dogs in Delhi–NCR.

The Court observed that while citizens’ safety is a genuine concern, the Animal Birth Control (ABC) Rules, 2023 have not been properly implemented. These rules emphasize sterilization and vaccination as humane population control measures.

This verdict could set a nationwide precedent for balancing:

🏙️ Urban safety

🐾 Animal rights

🏛️ Public health governance

With nearly 6 crore stray dogs in India, the case highlights the urgent need for sustainable, compassionate, and science-based policies.

👉 The big question: Can India find a middle path that protects both people and animals?

Difference Between Pvt. Ltd. Company and Ltd. Company

Understanding the difference between a Private Limited Company (Pvt. Ltd.) and a Public Limited Company (Ltd.) is important when choosing a business structure in India:

Private Limited Company (Pvt. Ltd.):

Ownership is limited to a small group of private individuals.

Shares are not traded on stock exchanges.

Minimum 2 members and maximum 200 members.

Restriction on the transfer of shares.

Less regulatory compliance compared to public companies.

Cannot invite the public to subscribe to shares or debentures.

Suitable for startups, SMEs, and closely-held companies.

Public Limited Company (Ltd.):

Ownership can be held by the general public.

Shares are listed on stock exchanges and are publicly traded.

Minimum 7 members, with no upper limit.

Shares can be freely transferred.

High regulatory compliance, including SEBI and stock exchange rules.

Can raise capital from the public through IPOs.

Suitable for large companies looking to expand widely.

Both structures are governed by the Companies Act, 2013, but vary significantly in terms of ownership, capital raising, and compliance requirements.
