District Legal Services Authority and Taluk Legal Sevices Committee are functioning in District Court Complex which were constituted under the Legal Service Authorities Act 1987 (as amended by Amendment Act 1994 (No. 59/1994) to provide a free and competent legal aid to the weaker section of the society to ensure that opportunities for securing justice are not denied to any citizen by reason of ec
onomic or other disabilities and to organise Lok adalats to secure that the operation of the legal system promotes justice on the basis of equal opportunity. Legal aid clinics are constituted in various colleges in Kozhikode district. District Mediation and Conciliation Centre is also constituted in this district and functioning in district court building. Mediation and Conciliation Centre explore the possibility of disposal of cases pending before various courts through mediation. Many awareness classes on various laws and relentless help to the poor and needy are also being provided affectively though Legal Services Authority in this district. A Judicial member of the rank of Sub Judge designated as Secretary is leading all the functions of District Legal Services Authority
