And the saga continues!

The busiest, most enthralling day of the tournament has come to a close with the teams and the ADRC exhausted and contented in equal measures.

With 15 simultaneous rounds happening across 4 locations at the NLIU Campus, each team had to play each role- the client, the counsel, and the mediator.

The night ended with anticipation over the semis and finals to come, and the greatest networking event for all ADR enthusiasts- The IMT Weekender. A chance to rejuvenate for the next day and build some connections was afforded to all our teams.

We look forward to seeing our teams all amped up for the finals tomorrow!

Starting off the intellectual extravaganza the right way!

The first among the three training sessions lined up by the INADR to acquaint the participants with the nuances that the mediation process entails. The session was presided over by Mr. Dennis Favaro, Managing Partner, Favaro and Gorman Ltd. who spoke about "Effective Advocacy at Mediation,”discussing, both theoretical and practical facets of mediation with regard to the role of a counsel. The participants in the audience were implored by the speaker and the moderator, Mr. John Lag who encouraged the participants to view the tournament as an opportunity, to meet new people and understand new perspectives, places and experiences.

After a very enthusiasm-filled training session, the ardent participating teams settled at the J.S. Verma memorial convention centre after having a swift devour at the stalls placed at the foyer ground to attend the second of the third training session. The commencement of the session started with the welcome back address by Mr Dennis Favaro, Managing Partner, Favaro and Gorman Ltd. This session was more focused on the principles of a mediator. Some keywords that were discussed by Mr. Lag for the mediators’ role were – to listen, ask but don’t tell guide but don’t push, how to be patient, concerned and show gratitude, and also to be understanding and show subtle empathy. Mr Mendes also talked about common mistakes made by participants during competitions and navigated through the do’s and dont’s in a mediation round.

The penultimate event on the schedule was marked by a discussion over the significance of a good conclusion to a mediation session being explained by Mr. Favaro and Mr. Lag. The participants had the opportunity to interact with our esteemed panel of judges constituted by Mr. Dennis Favaro, Mr. Ethelwald O. Mendes, Mr. John Lag, Ms. Kavita Bhatia, and Mr. Krusch Pathippalli Anthony to understand mediation and the generalities of the tournament through their unique perspectives.

We hope the participants enjoyed the sessions and we wish to encourage them to turn out in huge numbers even next year!
