The Copyright Law Webinar with Adv. Aishwarya Sandeep on โ€œDecoding Copyright and Fair Use in the Digital Eraโ€ (12th September 2025) was an insightful deep dive into the evolving landscape of intellectual property rights. From the complexities of the Copyright Act in relation to AI-generated content, artistic works, music compositions, and digital media, to breaking down copyright ownership in real-world scenarios, the session delivered immense value. A major highlight was the critical discussion on Fair Useโ€”clarifying how creators, educators, and researchers can responsibly leverage copyrighted material for innovation, learning, and knowledge-sharing in todayโ€™s digital-first world.

Congratulations to the Centre for Intellectual Rights and our dedicated faculty coordinator Prof. Purwa Bala Maโ€™am for their exceptional efforts and contributions in making this session a resounding success.

IFIM Law School SIP hosted its first international collaboration with Doctors Against Forced Organ Harvesting (DAFOH), which is a global collective of doctors united against the unethical practice of forced organ harvesting in China. DAFOH, nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize and recipient of the Mother Teresa Memorial Award (2019), partnered with us to bring an unforgettable learning experience for our students.

The Indian Chapter of DAFOH, represented by Dr. Vipin P. Mudegowder (Ramaiah Memorial Hospital), Dr. Giridhar N. R (ESI Hospital), Mr. Jose Johnny (Software Developer at Ernst & Young), and Mrs. Chitra Devnani (Vice President, Falun Dafa India and Volunteer at DAFOH), delivered a powerful session through the documentary โ€œHard to Believe.โ€ The documentary sensitized our first-year LLB and BBA LLB students to the grave realities of forced organ harvesting which is a subject of global human rights concern.

Our students also expressed their solidarity by signing the Annual Petition to the G7+7 countries titled โ€œStop Forced Organ Harvesting from Prisoners of Conscience in the Peopleโ€™s Republic of Chinaโ€.

The collaboration connected our students to global discourses in law, ethics, and humanity, while also inspiring them to act with compassion and courage.
