Part 2 :
The “Tibet Resolve Act” amends the Tibetan Policy Act of 2002, reaffirming the distinct identity of the Tibetan people and emphasizing the need for peaceful dialogue to resolve the Tibet-China dispute in accordance with international law. It criticizes China’s historical claims over Tibet and its repressive policies, mandates the U.S. to counter Chinese disinformation about Tibet, and promotes dialogue between Chinese authorities and Tibetan representatives. The Act also defines the geographic scope of Tibet and allocates funds to combat disinformation about Tibet from the Chinese government and the Chinese Communist Party.

Tibetan Uprising Day, also known as the Tibetan National Uprising Day, is observed annually on March 10th to commemorate the 1959 Tibetan Uprising against Chinese rule.

On this day, Tibetans and their supporters around the world gather to remember the brave men and women who fought for Tibet's independence and to renew their commitment to the cause of Tibetan freedom. The day is also an opportunity to raise awareness about the ongoing human rights abuses in Tibet and to call for a peaceful resolution to the Tibet-China conflict.

The Tibetan Uprising of 1959 was a popular revolt against the Chinese Communist Party's invasion and occupation of Tibet, which began in 1950. The uprising was sparked by fears that the Chinese authorities were planning to abduct the Dalai Lama, Tibet's spiritual leader, and take him to Beijing.

Tibetan citizens took to the streets of Lhasa, the capital of Tibet, to protest the Chinese presence and demand the withdrawal of Chinese forces. The Chinese authorities responded with force, and the protests quickly turned violent. Thousands of Tibetans were killed or imprisoned, and the Dalai Lama was forced to flee to India, where he has lived in exile ever since.

Since the uprising, Tibetans both inside and outside Tibet have continued to struggle for their cultural, religious, and political rights. The Chinese government has responded with repression and violence, including restrictions on freedom of speech, assembly, and religion, as well as the forced resettlement of Tibetans and the destruction of their cultural heritage.

Despite these challenges, the Tibetan people have shown remarkable resilience and determination in their quest for freedom and justice. Tibetan Uprising Day is an opportunity to honor their struggle and to stand in solidarity with them as they continue their fight for human rights and self-determination.
