Under the leadership of Hon’ble Mr. Justice Arun Palli, Chief Justice, High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh (Patron-in-Chief, J&K Legal Services Authority), and Hon’ble Mr. Justice Sanjeev Kumar, Executive Chairman, J&K Legal Services Authority,,guidance of Member secretary state legal service authority Ms Shazia tabassum and chairman District legal service authority budgam Mr O.p.baghat and supervision of secretary dlsa budgam Ms Tabassum parray the Tehsil Legal Services Committee (TLSC), Magam, in collaboration with the State Bank of India (SBI), Magam, organized an Awareness Programme on Legal Rights of Senior Citizens (under NALSA Senior Citizens Scheme), Special Drive – Mediation for Nation 2.0, and awareness for NPA Account Holders regarding waiver/settlement of accrued interest and principal outstanding of loans in connection with the forthcoming National Lok Adalat on 16 February 2026 at Town Hall, Magam.

The programme was graced by Ms. Rabiya Snober Gulzar, Judicial Magistrate Munsiff Magam and Chairperson, TLSC Magam, as the Chief Guest. In her address, she emphasized the need to safeguard the rights of senior citizens and highlighted the importance of free legal aid, mediation, and Lok Adalats as effective and amicable modes of dispute resolution. She urged the participants to avail maximum benefits from the welfare schemes launched by NALSA for senior citizens.

During the programme, the resource persons sensitized the participants about the legal rights, welfare provisions, and various government schemes available for senior citizens under the NALSA Senior Citizens Scheme. The representatives from the State Bank of India, Magam, also educated the NPA account holders about the procedure and benefits of settlement/waiver of loan liabilities through the forthcoming National Lok Adalat and motivated them to resolve their disputes through this platform.

A Special Medical Camp for senior citizens was also organized on the occasion, where free medical check-ups and basic health consultations were provided by the medical team, which was highly appreciated by the participants.

The programme witnessed the participation of senior citizens, bank beneficiaries, PLVs, mediators, officials from SBI Magam, and members of the general public, with approximately 100 participants attending the event.

The speakers on the occasion included officials of TLSC Magam, representatives from SBI, PLVs, and mediators, who deliberated upon various aspects of legal aid, mediation, financial literacy, and social welfare measures for senior citizens.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks, appreciating the coordinated efforts of all departments and stakeholders for making the event successful.

The programme was conducted under the guidance and supervision of the Chairperson, Tehsil Legal Services Committee, Magam.

Legal Awareness Programme on Legal Aid and Right to Education Held at Target 360 Coaching Institute, Magam

Under the leadership of Hon’ble Mr. Justice Arun Palli, Chief Justice, High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh (Patron-in-Chief, J&K Legal Services Authority), and Hon’ble Mr. Justice Sanjeev Kumar, Executive Chairman, J&K Legal Services Authority, the District Legal Services Authority Budgam in coordination with respective TLSCs and in collaboration with concerned departments, conducts awareness/activities as per the mandate of Legal Services Authority.

In continuation of its legal literacy initiatives, the District Legal Services Authority Budgam organized a Legal Awareness Programme at Target 360 Coaching Institute, Magam on the topics of Free Legal Aid under the Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987 and the Right to Education under Article 21A of the Constitution of India.

The programme was conducted under the guidance of Mr. O.P. Baghhat, Chairman, District Legal Services Authority Budgam, Ms. Tabassum Parray, Secretary, DLSA Budgam, and under the supervision of Ms. Rabyia Snober Gulzar, Chairman, Tehsil Legal Services Committee (TLSC) Magam.

On the occasion, Ms. Iram Aziz, Junior Assistant, TLSC Magam, delivered a comprehensive address highlighting the constitutional mandate of Article 39A and the objectives of the Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987. She elaborated upon the eligibility criteria for free legal services and the role of Legal Services Institutions in ensuring access to justice for weaker and marginalized sections of society.

She further sensitized the participants about the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act, 2009, emphasizing that education is a Fundamental Right guaranteed under Article 21A of the Constitution. Key provisions including free education for children aged 6 to 14 years, prohibition of capitation fee and screening tests, 25% reservation for children belonging to Economically Weaker Sections in private unaided schools, and safeguards against physical punishment were explained in detail.

Earlier, Mr. Rouf-ul-Hassan, Law Student, also delivered an informative lecture on the salient features of the RTE Act and interacted with the students during the session.

The programme concluded with an interactive discussion wherein queries of the students were addressed and awareness material was distributed.

Under the leadership of Hon’ble Mr. Justice Arun Palli, Chief Justice, High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh (Patron-in-Chief, J&K Legal Services Authority), and Hon’ble Mr. Justice Sanjeev Kumar, Executive Chairman, J&K Legal Services Authority, the District Legal Services Authority Budgam in continuation of its legal awareness initiatives, the Tehsil Legal Services Committee (TLSC) Magam, under the guidance of the Secretary, District Legal Services Authority Budgam, Ms. Tabassum Parray, under the supervision of Ms. Rabyia Snober Gulzar, and in collaboration with Achieves Coaching Institute (ACI), Magam, organized an awareness programme on the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 (POSH Act) along with Legal Aid Awareness at Achieves Coaching Institute, Magam, Budgam.

During the programme, a detailed speech was delivered by Ms. Iram Aziz and Para Legal Volunteer (PLV of TLSC Magam, wherein the participants were apprised of the provisions and objectives of the POSH Act, the complaint mechanism, and the role of Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) and Local Complaints Committee (LCC). She also sensitized the participants about the availability of free legal aid services, eligibility criteria, and the role of Legal Services Authorities in ensuring access to justice.

The teachers of Achieves Coaching Institute, Magam actively participated in the programme and interacted during the session. Emphasis was laid on creating safe, respectful, and harassment-free workplaces and educational institutions.

The programme concluded with an appeal to promote legal awareness, dignity, and equality, and to make effective use of legal aid services
