Under the leadership of Hon’ble Mr. Justice Arun Palli, Chief Justice, High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh (Patron-in-Chief, J&K Legal Services Authority), and Hon’ble Mr. Justice Sanjeev Kumar, Executive Chairman, J&K Legal Services Authority,,guidance of Member secretary state legal service authority Ms Shazia tabassum and chairman District legal service authority budgam Mr O.p.baghat and supervision of secretary dlsa budgam Ms Tabassum parray the Tehsil Legal Services Committee (TLSC), Magam, in collaboration with the State Bank of India (SBI), Magam, organized an Awareness Programme on Legal Rights of Senior Citizens (under NALSA Senior Citizens Scheme), Special Drive – Mediation for Nation 2.0, and awareness for NPA Account Holders regarding waiver/settlement of accrued interest and principal outstanding of loans in connection with the forthcoming National Lok Adalat on 16 February 2026 at Town Hall, Magam.
The programme was graced by Ms. Rabiya Snober Gulzar, Judicial Magistrate Munsiff Magam and Chairperson, TLSC Magam, as the Chief Guest. In her address, she emphasized the need to safeguard the rights of senior citizens and highlighted the importance of free legal aid, mediation, and Lok Adalats as effective and amicable modes of dispute resolution. She urged the participants to avail maximum benefits from the welfare schemes launched by NALSA for senior citizens.
During the programme, the resource persons sensitized the participants about the legal rights, welfare provisions, and various government schemes available for senior citizens under the NALSA Senior Citizens Scheme. The representatives from the State Bank of India, Magam, also educated the NPA account holders about the procedure and benefits of settlement/waiver of loan liabilities through the forthcoming National Lok Adalat and motivated them to resolve their disputes through this platform.
A Special Medical Camp for senior citizens was also organized on the occasion, where free medical check-ups and basic health consultations were provided by the medical team, which was highly appreciated by the participants.
The programme witnessed the participation of senior citizens, bank beneficiaries, PLVs, mediators, officials from SBI Magam, and members of the general public, with approximately 100 participants attending the event.
The speakers on the occasion included officials of TLSC Magam, representatives from SBI, PLVs, and mediators, who deliberated upon various aspects of legal aid, mediation, financial literacy, and social welfare measures for senior citizens.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks, appreciating the coordinated efforts of all departments and stakeholders for making the event successful.
The programme was conducted under the guidance and supervision of the Chairperson, Tehsil Legal Services Committee, Magam.
