Assessment Year 2017-18 Tax Slab:

For any individual (resident below the age of 60 years or non-resident), every HUF/AOP//BOI/artificial juridical person
Upto 2,50,000 NIL
2,50,001 to 5,00,000 10%
5,00,001 to 10,00,000 20%
Above 10,00,000 30%
For resident senior citizen (who is of 60 years but less than 80 years at any time
during the previous year)
Upto 3,00,000 NIL
3,00,001 to ` 5,00,000 10%
5,00,001 to 10,00,000 20%
Above 10,00,000 30%
For resident super senior citizen (who is of 80 years during the previous year)
Upto 5,00,000 NIL
5,00,001 to 10,00,000 20%
Above 10,00,000 30%

An assessee, being an individual resident in India, whose total income does not exceed 5 lakh rupees, this section is available. Section 87A of the Act has been amended so as to increase the maximum amount of rebate available under this provision from existing Rs.2,000 to Rs. 5,000.

This amendment effective from 1st April, 2017 and accordingly apply in relation to assessment year 2017-18 and subsequent assessment years.
