Canada ended the Student Direct Stream (SDS) and Nigeria Student Express (NSE) on November 8, 2024, to ensure equal and fair access for all study permit applicants.
👉 The SDS was opened to legal residents of Antigua and Barbuda, Brazil, China, Colombia, Costa Rica, India, Morocco, Pakistan, Peru, Philippines, Senegal, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Trinidad and Tobago, and Vietnam.
👉Applications submitted before 2:00 p.m. ET on November 8 will still be processed under SDS or NSE, while all new applications will go through the regular stream.
👉 Prospective students are invited to apply through the regular study permit stream, which accepts Guaranteed Investment Certificates as proof of financial support.
The decision aligns with Canada’s commitment to maintaining program integrity and providing a positive academic experience for all students.
Do you think Canada’s new approach will make the study permit process more fair for all applicants?
