A valued trout fishery was put in jeopardy by the illegal introduction of pike, which officials say could wipe out the coldwater species.

Corrib Anglers are managing pike numbers with rod and line constantly...inland fisheries ireland must increase their staffing levels and work with the local Anglers in removing and controlling these invasive species.

This is very worrying...
Also it's sad that inland fisheries ireland would make angler's return these escaped farm salmon in a catch and release river...
They should not be returned!!!!!!..

Farmed salmon that escaped from a cage in Mayo last year are feared to be breeding with their wild cousins and could weaken the species’ chances of survival.
