COUPLES - DID YOU KNOW?

If you are not married to each other, you will only inherit from your partner if they make provision for you in a valid will.

If you are married, then in that case you or your spouse is entitled to what is known in law as a legal right share of the deceased spouse's estate even where:
there is no will
the will is invalid
there is a valid will, but it leaves little or nothing to the surviving spouse.

The marital status of the deceased person can also have an impact on the inheritance rights of children.
