DCDB Annual General Meeting 2015 was held in Monday 9th February. In The Market House, Dunleer, Co. Louth.

At the well attended meeting, the Board reported to the members that the board was in a sound condition.

We had accomplished another project, the restoration of The Market House.

Following on from our members representations to the board on traffic matters in Dunleer town in 2014, the Board confirmed that a traffic survey is currently being prepared and will be pursued in 2015 as one of the incoming Board officers objectives for the forthcoming Board's term if office.

The new Men's Shed Project Dunleer was commended.

Although the DCDB is not directly involved in organising this new venture, it has the full support of the DCDB as it is in accord with the Board's objectives of creating a better community for all.

The Board also announced we were partnering with Dunleer Tidy Towns committee and Lannleire GFC sports club to bring a new summer games challenge "THE CUBE" to Dunleer on Sunday, May 3rd bank holiday weekend 2015.

The Annual General Meeting of Dunleer Community Development Board was held on Thursday, January 24th, 2014 at 8pm in An tScoraiocht Lannleire Ceili House, Barn Road Dunleer.

At the meeting, which by some measure was one of the best attended in the 15 year history of the 'Board, a comprehensive annual report was given to the delegates of member associations and the general public in attendence on progress with the market house, financial report, and questions taken from the floor to the 'board.

A new Board of Directors was elected, with Eugene Conlon re-elected as Chairman.

A significant number of local representatives were also in attendence, and being an election year, a number of issues were raised. In particular, the situation regarding the traffic congestion around Scoil Bhride, and the lack of playing space for Children in the school grounds.

A progress report was given on the Market House project. It is on schedule for completion in June of 2014.

The DCDB Community Playground is now well established, and the 'board have handed it over to the community's use.

A Minute's Silence was observed for our colleague Johnny Brennan, who departed from us in April 2013.

FULL Line up of Events for Christmas Festival of Dunleer 2013:

During the Christmas Festival of Dunleer 2013, there are a number of events in between Santa Night and the Christmas Fair.

Full line up of events are as follows -

Thursday December 5th:

6.30pm

Santa Night starts with music live on stage with DJ ''Spinnin Finnan'' with the LMFM Roadcaster on the street in Dunleer town.


7.30pm

The big man himself, Santa Claus arrives in his sleigh up the street, arriving on stage to wish us all a merry christmas!

Santa will help us put on the Christmas Lights, and then go to his house to meet the good boys and girls, and give out the presents to those children who have been good.

After Santa goes back to the North pole to finish all the toys for Christmas, the party doesnt stop! There then follows...

9.00pm
Music in ''The Grove'' on Main Street with musician Davey Arthur (of The Furey Brothers & Davey Arthur fame). The party will go on well into the night...

Friday December 6th:

S Factor Auditions in Teach Scoraiocht Lann Leire. Entry Forms are available at Andrew's Spar Supermarket, Dunleer. All Singers, dancers and musicians of every kind welcome! The Paddy Torris Memorial Medal will be presented to all taking part.

10.00am to 5.00pm -

CHRISTMAS FAIR of Dunleer 2013 in Shearman's Marquee to the rear of Shearman's Venue on Main Street, Dunleer. There are nearly 30 exhibitors at the fair all day. With something for everyone, you are bound to find that little something for your someone special! Admission is FREE!

8.00pm -

S FACTOR FINALS in Grove House Dunleer. Music after competition performed by ''BIG MUSIC Song and Dance'' SESSIUN. Tickets €5.00 each.

Proceeds in aid of SOSAD and Dunleer St. Vincent de Paul.
The Sean O Flanagan Og Go Buan memorial Medals will be awarded to the winners of the competition.

Sunday December 8th:

7.00pm -

Christmas Choral Evensong Service in St. Brigid's Church, Chapel Lane, Dunleer. Traditionally the culmination of the Festival, it is a chance to reflect and enjoy the wonder of choirs. This year there is a most impressive line up of artistes -

Philipstown Junior Ensemble,
Nativity Play,
Philipstown Choir,
Scoil Ui Mhuiri Choir,
and the Cara Folk Group.

And that concludes the line up of what promises to be a very busy and enjoyable weekend.
