Barbara Myweddingmyway

Barbara Myweddingmyway HSE Registered Solemniser able to meet your ceremony's legal and creative needs. The Celebrating Celebrant of County Louth! How romantic is that”?

Barbara Finigan has lasting memories of watching her two closest friends get married. “Their shared dream was to make their wedding unique and special,” she explains, ”But there was no one in the local area who could help make it happen.” With a background in performance and production, Barbara stepped-up to that challenge. “It all happened very naturally. We chose poems and readings, then the mus

ic and most importantly, their vows.” In the end, everyone agreed it had been a very special ceremony, indeed. “The feedback was incredible!” says Barbara, “From that moment on, I knew I’d found my dream job!”

Within the month, Barbara had embarked on a training course with the Irish Institute of Celebrants. There, she and fellow course mates formed Alternative Weddings Ireland, a group whose common goal is to help couples create the wedding of their dreams. She sailed through her assessment in January 2017 and is now an accredited celebrant. She is fully qualified to help with weddings, vow renewals, naming ceremonies and also funerals. Wedding ceremonies appeal to everyone and couples like to add those special touches that make their celebration personal. This is where Barbara works her magic. She ensures that the little things that matter to a couple’s beliefs, stories and personalities, are included. “The ceremony can be as religious or non-religious as you wish,” she explains, “Anything is possible.”

Those of us who are married might recall how, prior to our wedding day, discussions revolved around venues, catering, dates, rings, clothes and so on. In all likelihood, the ‘heart and soul’ of the day, namely the celebration, was overlooked. Imagine then, having a dedicated professional like Barbara, whose sole task is to help you, the couple, channel energy into that one, very special aspect.

“Ireland is a magical place and there’s a whole lot of mysticism in some of the ancient rites and rituals celebrated here,” says Barbara. “To give you an example, we have the Celtic knot fasting ritual, which is where the term ‘tying the knot’ comes from. Imagine entwining a couple’s hands with ribbons that they’ve chosen for the occasion. Then there’s the language to consider. “I teach modern languages,” says Barbara, “So, if a couple would like to include French, German or Spanish in their ceremony, I can easily do that, too.”

If you and your significant other long to experience a truly memorable ceremony, why not contact Barbara to help make it happen.

💜Some stories begin in school corridors… and somehow, years later, find their way to the aisle.

💜I had the absolute pleasure of marrying Amy & James at the beautiful Castleknock Hotel - a couple who have grown up side by side since their school days.

💜One of my favourite moments of the ceremony came from their little boy, who made it very clear he wasn’t entirely convinced about sharing his mum just yet… and honestly, the whole room melted.

💜And that’s the thing about weddings - no matter how carefully a ceremony is written, the moments people remember most are often the beautifully real ones no one could ever plan.

💜This wedding felt full of history, familiarity and deep love - the kind that has grown quietly over years, surrounded by family who have watched the story unfold from the very beginning.

💜It was especially meaningful for me too, as Amy & James first saw me officiate at a family wedding some time ago. There’s something incredibly special about couples coming back because they connected with the feeling in the room.

💜And the thread continues with a booking from their friend for 2027.

💜Thank you both for trusting me with your story.

💜Easter eggs eaten, a bit of spring in the air… and time spent meeting couples, hearing stories and beginning to share what will be said in the day. 💜Because the magic never starts at the aisle.
It starts in the connection.

💜Not every ceremony I’m privileged to lead is mine to share.

💜Some weddings are held close — kept within the circle of the people who stood in the room — and I respect that completely.

💜Sinead and Trevor’s ceremony was filled with warmth, tenderness, and love — a day carried by the people who gathered around them.

💜While their faces and private moments remain theirs alone, I’m deeply grateful for the trust they placed in me to guide them through promises that were personal and completely true to who they are.

💜It is always a privilege to stand at the heart of a celebration like that.

💜What I can tell you is this:
the love was real, the promises were heartfelt, and the atmosphere was rich with meaning.

💜There was laughter, a few tears, and afterwards so many guests spoke about how special it felt to witness something so honest, so human, and so full of heart.

💜Thank you for the trust.
