The Eagle aims to give students a platform to write about legal and political issues that are pertinent to them, a platform which was previously lacking. It is a forum which also aims to bring life after college to an accessible level. This year, our goal is to produce two thematic issues in addition to the standard two publications. Submissions for the next issue of The Eagle will posted on socia

l media and our website, but blog post submissions can be sent into our editorial team at any time at the email, [email protected]. Submissions are welcomed on a broad range of topics and are open to all disciplines. While details are also posted to our website, all articles should be 750-1200 words in length.

Trinity FLAC and The Eagle are excited to announce our upcoming essay competition!

We are inviting essay submissions on the following theme:

“Restoration: Rethinking Crime, Punishment, and Justice”

Students are encouraged to critically engage with this theme by examining how contemporary approaches to crime and punishment shape our understanding of justice, accountability, and restoration. Submissions may explore developments in criminal law, penal reform, restorative justice, victims’ rights, or broader philosophical and societal debates surrounding punishment and rehabilitation, both at home and abroad.

Prizes: The winner will receive €100, and the runner-up will receive €50. Both essays, as well as those shortlisted, will be published in Volume 12, Issue 2 of The Eagle.

Guidelines: Submissions open on Thursday, 11 December and should be emailed as word documents to [email protected] by Friday, 6 February. Essays must be no more than 1500 words (exclusive of footnotes) and should be written in Times New Roman font at size 12. Citations are not required, but a list of references should be included.

Please include your name, course, and year in your submission.

We invite anyone interested in writing, editing, journalism, and publishing to apply for a Senior Editorial Board position — no previous experience with The Eagle is required. In order to apply, please send a short message to [email protected] stating which role you are putting yourself forward for and have a few lines prepared to say at our AGM about your relevant experience and ideas for the position.
