Trinity FLAC and The Eagle are excited to announce our upcoming essay competition!
We are inviting essay submissions on the following theme:
“Restoration: Rethinking Crime, Punishment, and Justice”
Students are encouraged to critically engage with this theme by examining how contemporary approaches to crime and punishment shape our understanding of justice, accountability, and restoration. Submissions may explore developments in criminal law, penal reform, restorative justice, victims’ rights, or broader philosophical and societal debates surrounding punishment and rehabilitation, both at home and abroad.
Prizes: The winner will receive €100, and the runner-up will receive €50. Both essays, as well as those shortlisted, will be published in Volume 12, Issue 2 of The Eagle.
Guidelines: Submissions open on Thursday, 11 December and should be emailed as word documents to [email protected] by Friday, 6 February. Essays must be no more than 1500 words (exclusive of footnotes) and should be written in Times New Roman font at size 12. Citations are not required, but a list of references should be included.
Please include your name, course, and year in your submission.
Best of luck - we can’t wait to read your essays!
