A super morning yesterday, at the first LiRE event of 2026, hosted in Grant Thornton’s offices.

It was great to see so many talented people in the room and to be part of such an engaging and insightful session. Huge thanks to the LiRE team and for hosting and for creating such a welcoming space.

We were delighted that Daniela Contreras and Morgan James attended on behalf of Evia — brilliant to get involved and be part of such a positive and forward-looking event ✨

This morning, our Managing Director, Adam Merriman, had the opportunity to attend an excellent presentation by Seán O’Driscoll, Chair of the Accelerating Infrastructure Taskforce, at the Dublin Chamber.

The Accelerating Infrastructure Report and Action Plan sets out a comprehensive and actionable reform programme, with clear actions, defined responsibilities, and real timelines to address the critical barriers impacting infrastructure, housing, energy, and transport delivery across the country. 🏗️🏘️⚡🚆

A standout element is the Action Plan section, which focuses on practical, time-bound measures, the expected outcomes, and how each action will be measured. It sets out 30 headline actions and 138 sub-actions, with rapid implementation planned throughout 2026. The timeline for each action is clearly set out in the chart below, with a strong weighting toward completion in Q1 and Q2 of 2026, signalling real urgency and intent behind the reform programme. 📊⏱️

We’re proud to share that we have completed a strategic Energy Improvement Pathway report for The Mill Shopping Centre, developed with the assistance of the EXEED Programme, with 𝟱𝟬% 𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗳𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗱 to support the commissioning of the report.

The report sets out a clear roadmap to 𝗳𝘂𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗱𝗲𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗯𝗼𝗻𝗶𝘀𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗲, reduce energy consumption, and enhance the BER rating of the common areas from 𝗗𝟮 𝘁𝗼 𝗔𝟯 through a structured, phased approach.

𝗞𝗲𝘆 𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘀 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝗱𝗲:

✅ 𝗜𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝟭𝟭 𝘁𝗮𝗿𝗴𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗴𝘆-𝘀𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗺𝗲𝗮𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗲𝘀.

When implemented, these measures could deliver a 𝟳𝟱% 𝗿𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗯𝗼𝗻 𝗲𝗺𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀, significant operational savings, and a more resilient, sustainable future for the centre, its occupiers, and the wider community.

The development of this report demonstrates how 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗰 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴, supported by SEAI’s EXEED funding framework, can transform existing retail assets into efficient, low-carbon buildings — creating long-term value for owners and occupiers alike.

A BER Improvement Pathway Report provides a clear pathway, setting out the milestones and prioritised actions needed to improve your building’s energy performance and BER rating. Once these measures are implemented, a follow-up BER Assessment benchmarks the results and verifies the uplift achieved.

From our experience, the measures that deliver the greatest impact include:

💡 LED Lighting
❄️ High-Efficiency Air Conditioning
🌬 Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery (MVHR)
🧱 Insulation Upgrades
🔥 Heat Pump Technology
📊 Advanced Monitoring & Control Systems
☀️ Solar PV

Get in touch to discuss tailored solutions for your building and take the first step on a clear pathway to lower costs, improved performance, and a stronger BER rating.

Measuring performance is the foundation for improvement — 𝐢𝐟 𝐢𝐭’𝐬 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐦𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐞𝐝, 𝐢𝐭’𝐬 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐝.

We begin with a baseline analysis to track performance over time and invoice reviews to uncover errors and hidden savings. Our process also identifies the key factors driving energy usage and sets up automated alerts to notify building managers of out-of-trend consumption, enabling swift action and cost control.

At the core is our 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦, bringing together real-time data on electricity, gas, and water to drive smarter decisions, stronger financial outcomes, and measurable environmental impact.

🌍 World Green Building Week kicks off today! 🌍

Buildings might not always make the headlines when we talk about climate, but they should. The built environment is responsible for around one-third of Ireland’s energy use and emissions — meaning how we manage and improve our buildings really matters.

At Evia Sustainable Real Estate, we see buildings as opportunities: with smarter management, real data, and well-executed projects, we can deliver measurable improvements. That’s why we focus on our 3-Pillar Approach:

– Collect and analyse baseline environmental performance data.

– Leverage this data to develop targeted, site-specific strategies.

– Deliver projects that achieve measurable savings and tangible results.

Follow along this week on the Evia page as we share insights, case studies, and practical examples from across our portfolio.
