As an auctioneer l absolute abhor online bidding and wouldn’t entertain it at all in my business. Auctioneers are regulated as we know but online bidding is absolutely not. It encourages emotive bidding that is easily accessed in a housing crisis era and drives prices through the roof often resulting in sales falling through. It also discourages solid offers from solid buyers.
The entire online process is a mess and needs an overhaul in my view.
Going sale agreed on a property should not feel like winning the lotto. It should feel like a solid business transaction taking place in a safe and transparent environment.
