A massive congratulations to our successful candidates for the Co-opt positions! Thank you to everyone who put themselves forward for these roles. If things didn’t go your way this time, please don’t be discouraged. There will be many more opportunities to get involved throughout the academic year; subcommittee applications will be open shortly! We would love to see you run again in the future.

Subcommittee applications are now open!⭐
We are delighted to announce the opening of applications for this year’s Law Conference Subcommittee! Joanna Moynihan, the Conference Director of the 97th Session would like to invite any student from any course to get involved in the 26th Annual Law Conference. Taking part in this sub-com is a fantastic way of getting involved in the Law Society, as well as being a great chance to network and boost career prospects in the legal field.
The positions are as follows:

⚖Graphic Designer
⚖Sponsorship Officer
⚖Finance Officer
⚖Panelist Liaison

iWe are delighted to announce the winner, runner up and best first year entry for the Annual Case Note Writing competition, kindly sponsored by 🎉

In first place is Billy Daly, for his case note on Poptoshev v DPP, which offers a clear and persuasive analysis of the Supreme Court’s reasoning on compelled password disclosure and a thoughtful engagement with the constitutional implications for digital privacy.

Runner-up is Jana Sirbu, for her case note on X v Cyprus, which offers a thoughtful examination of the European Court of Human Rights’ approach to investigative failures in sexual violence cases and its implications for States’ positive obligations under Articles 3 and 8 of the Convention.

Our best first year case note is Cillian Carey O’Dwyer, for his case note on O’Carolan v Minister for Education, which provides a clear and well-structured examination of the constitutional standard of “appropriate education” under Article 42.4.
