The Cork Online Law Review is now accepting submissions to its 26th Edition!

Submissions should range from 3,000 to 12,000 words in length and conform with the Oxford House Style (OSCOLA). We accept submissions in English, Irish and French.

Submissions should be made to [email protected] before the first deadline of the 31st of December 2026. Early submissions are encouraged to ensure proper consideration of your article.

The Advocacy League brings Mock Trial, Moot and Debate together through a points-based competition spanning the academic year. Students will earn points for participation and competitive achievement, with the final awards night featuring prizes for:

Best Advocate,
Best Novice,
Most Improved,
Best Moot/Mock/Debate Speaker,
Best Witness,
Best Solicitor

and more which will be unveiled throughout the year.

Points system:
Participation — 10 points
Semi-finalist — 20 points
Finalist — 30 points
Winner — 40 points
Best Speaker — 15 points
Best Novice — 15 points

We’re delighted to welcome Simon Coveney, former Tánaiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade, and Ireland’s Chief Political Brexit Negotiator, to UCC for an evening discussing Brexit, for the first House Meeting of the year.

From planning some of LawSoc’s biggest nights and social events to helping with the behind-the-scenes organisation that makes them happen, Event Coordinators will play an important role in creating a fun and welcoming LawSoc experience for everyone.

Sign up now for our Joint Advocacy Competition, kindly sponsored by Arthur Cox.

The competition consists of three rounds:
Round 1. Debating - The debating element will consist of a short 4 minute speech on a topic provided in advance.
Round 2. Mock Trial - The mock trial element will include 2 minute opening and closing statements with questioning of one witness per side.
Round 3. Moot Court - The moot element will be slimmed down to include research on approximately 5 cases and a 4 minute oral submission for the appellant or the respondent.

PRIZES:
1ST: €150
2ND: €100
BEST NOVICE: €50
BEST WITNESS: €20

The competition will take place over two days, starting at 6pm each day.

If a student signs up individually, we will match them with another individual to make a team of two.

Applications close 5th October at 12pm.
All sign ups can expect to receive all information that evening.
