iWe are delighted to announce the winner, runner up and best first year entry for the Annual Case Note Writing competition, kindly sponsored by 🎉
In first place is Billy Daly, for his case note on Poptoshev v DPP, which offers a clear and persuasive analysis of the Supreme Court’s reasoning on compelled password disclosure and a thoughtful engagement with the constitutional implications for digital privacy.
Runner-up is Jana Sirbu, for her case note on X v Cyprus, which offers a thoughtful examination of the European Court of Human Rights’ approach to investigative failures in sexual violence cases and its implications for States’ positive obligations under Articles 3 and 8 of the Convention.
Our best first year case note is Cillian Carey O’Dwyer, for his case note on O’Carolan v Minister for Education, which provides a clear and well-structured examination of the constitutional standard of “appropriate education” under Article 42.4.
