A sad day today as friend and colleague Richard Grogan passed away.
Richard’s engagement with social media really started with Covid lockdown, and on LinkedIn. From there to Instagram and TikTok where he amassed 6-figure levels of followers with his reels providing plain-English guidance on employment law. A new post every day until very recently.
He gave generously of his time to colleagues, whether in delivering seminars or just at the end of the phone, and loved, in particular, giving support to younger colleagues. His catchphrase “That’s the law and that’s a fact” will be widely used into the future - let’s not forget where it came from.
Although I’ve known Richard for over 20 years, it’s really been as a colleague on the Council of the Law Society of Ireland I got to know him much better. He was a man for details, and loved to talk. We spent hours talking, over the past several years, principally on the topic of professional indemnity and regulatory demands on small legal practices. A tireless advocate, the TikTok Lawyer will be missed by so many.
Out thoughts are with his wife and family at this time. May he Rest In Peace.
