โš ๏ธUPDATE
With a weather warning in effect for County Leitrim between 11am and 7pm today the public are advised to note the following key safety messages:
โš ๏ธStorm Bram is a multi-hazard event - be aware of strong winds and an elevated flood risk
๐Ÿ”ธOrange wind warnings indicate wind speeds with the capacity to produce dangerous, stormy conditions, which may constitute a risk to life and property
๐Ÿ”ธPotential impacts include the possibility of structural damage, fallen trees and flying debris
๐Ÿ”ธDrive to anticipate strong cross winds and other hazards such as falling/fallen trees. High-sided vehicles and motorcyclists are particularly vulnerable to strong winds โ€“ slow down and give extra space to pedestrians and cyclists.
๐Ÿ”ธOrganisers of events and activities should consider the wind warnings that are in place and monitor the local conditions; the cancellation of events may be necessary in some locations.
๐Ÿ”ธStay away from exposed coastal areas for the period of the ORANGE warning and RED Marine Warning
๐Ÿ”ธFollow advice from emergency services and your local authority.
๐Ÿ”ธUisce ร‰ireann customers can check the website and social media channels for updates and to get in touch with any issues or concerns via their 24/7 customer care centre at 1800 278 278. The public can also sign up online to their free text alert system to get regular updates about their local supplies - see https://bit.ly/40iI4pB.โ€
๐Ÿ”ธStay away from swollen rivers, streams and flooded riverbanks โ€“ banks can collapse without warning, water levels and currents may be far stronger than usual.
๐Ÿ”ธDo not drive through floodwater โ€“ turn back and use another route.
๐Ÿ”ธCoastal areas may also experience wave overtopping, storm surge, and tidal flooding, especially in low-lying locations. Keep away from coastal edges, harbours, piers and low-lying promenades during high tide. The Irish ๐Ÿ”ธCoast Guard advice remains: โ€œStay Back, Stay High, Stay Dry.โ€
๐Ÿ”ธPeople are advised to prepare for the arrival of the storm, including ensuring their mobile phone is fully charged to enable communication.
๐Ÿ”ธCheck Local Authorities websites and social media channels for information on road closures, flooding updates, and community alerts.
๐Ÿ”ธCheck in with neighbours, older people or anyone who may need assistance in case conditions worsen.
๐Ÿ”ธESB Networks is highlighting the dangers posed by fallen live wires and is advising the public and the emergency services to stay away from these fallen cables and to report such cases to it immediately. ESB Emergency Services can be contacted at 1800 372 999. The public can monitor https://bit.ly/3MLLzk2 in regards to power restoration times.

Day to day reality of working arrangements will determine employment status regardless of what may be documented, with photographer working 20 hours a week for 12 years, with no discretion as to when she could attend work, and therefore was an employee and not a contractor supplying services.

Procededural flaws and cross contamination between stages of disciplinary process result in award of โ‚ฌ8,000 to bar manager who wrongly applied service charge to customer bills, against policy.

A bar manager who denied accusations that he was "defrauding" the patrons of a Dublin hotel by tacking on a 10% service charge to tables that weren't meant to pay it has won โ‚ฌ8,000 for unfair dismissal.

Once again in line with Section 27 of the Work Life Balance and Miscellaneous Provisions Act 2023, the WRC focuses on whether due process and procedure was followed in remote working application and cannot decide on the merits of the remote working decision.

A State workplace watchdog has thrown out a worker's claim that the Irish arm of social media giant TikTok has not treated an employee's request for remote working in a lawful manner.

TikTok complied with Code of Practice in how they dealt with employee's request to stay working remotely. Will be interesting to see how these cases evolve.

A TikTok worker who said her employer "completely disregarded" her needs in denying her request to exclusively work from home has had her complaint dismissed by the Workplace Relations
