Thanks to the good deeds done by my maternal maternal great grandfather, the late Mr. Fan Kit-pang, about 100 years ago, am very honoured to be invited to attend the 100th Anniversary Gala Dinner of the Kiang Wu Nursing College of Macau on Saturday 25 November 2023.

十分榮幸因太外公范潔朋先生在大約100年前所種的善因，獲邀出席澳門鏡湖護理學院於本月25日舉行之百周年校慶晚宴。

Together with attending the Eucharistic Celebration of St. Charles Borromeo-Patron Saint of Caritas Medical Centre Cum School of Nursing Inauguration Ceremony 2023 and the CMC Doctors' Association Annual Dinner 2023 earlier in the month, this November rather unexpectedly becomes one very much filled with the love of medical & nursing care!

加上月初出席明愛醫院的聖嘉祿主保瞻禮暨2023-2024年度護士學校開學典禮及醫生協會2023年年度晚宴，令這個11月差不多在無預警下成為一個充滿醫、護之愛的月份!

this friday night's SCOR 2023 Beaujolais Party, followed by the seasonal hairy crabs dinner with a small group of new and old time friends,

Having celebrated our 24th anniversary on 26 Oct, we are officially in the 25th year of being!

Apart from core services to the general insurance industry, those in wills, succession, probate and occasional property transactions, the firm is also growing its practice in general corporate, commercial, insolvency and regulatory work, both contentious and non-contentious.

The rather excited and more recent accomplishment would have to be the approval of an open-ended fund (OFC) by the SFC in late September 2022. This is to open up a new and hopefully wide aspect of services for the firm in the post-pandemic era, when we are also to maintain and keep strengthening our ongoing and established areas of practice.

With also our founder passing all the tests for the GBA Lawyer’s Qualifying Tests for HK & Macau lawyers, 25th Year here we come!

A seasoned non-life insurance practitioner, an IT specialist and a commercial lawyer coming from those 3 different angles for a delivery on "Insurtech for Non-Life Insurers: Challenges, Risks and Data Privacy", merging into this morning's webinar which attracted more than 160 registered audience.

An excellent topic and excellent organization by the Chartered Institute of Insurers, attracted over 160 registration.

WMC Partners was and would remain deeply honoured to be one of the selected sponsor of this special year's annual conference of the CIB (Confederation of Insurance Brokers) held this afternoon, followed by their cocktail reception.

Apart from regulators' and some market leaders' sharing during the afternoon conference, there was also the very touching speech of the Hon. Mr. K. P. Chan, Legco Member for the Insurance sector.

Taking this space and opportunity to wish CIB the very best to conquer the new challenges ahead and the bring greater and greater value not only to the circle of insurance brokers, but also the insurers, reinsurers and the community at large.

Amid having tonnes of ongoing work in office, the last extended weekend saw time very worth spending!

As a guest participant, our Founding Partner (Henry Wong) was priviledged to have taken part in the Brokerslink annual conference 2019, which was for 17 & 18 October 2019, at the beautiful city of Bordeaux, France.

This year’s Brokerslink conference saw over 300 members, all insurance brokers and risk management specialists, from 82 countries all over the world and all sharing common professional goals and great friendships gathering together for industry updates and the sharing of experience by industry leaders such as the Global CEO of the AXA Group and many others.

The official programmes packed the two days for all delegates and guests but there were still the abundance of opportunities for everyone to catch up, to mingle and to strengthen professional ties in between conference sessions, at lunches, over coffees, the dinner cruising on River Garonne, the great Gala Dinner at Palais de La Bourse and of course the one of its kind after dinner roof top chats over some single malts at Hotel Radisson Blu.

This year’s conference ended with a wine tour at Chateau Carbonnieux on the left bank.

One really has to be there to experience so to tell that harmonious blending of business with pleasure actually does exist!

We are very pleased to have completed the 2019 recruitment of Trainee Solicitors and are to await welcoming the new recruit to the steadily growing team after the summer break.

On 15 March 2019, we held a seminar for about 70 general insurance practitioners coming from the Insurance Authority, the Hong Kong Federation of Insurers and about 28 other insurers, reinsurers and brokers.

The key topic of that seminar was the potential new law in Periodical Payments Order ("PPO") for Future Pecuniary Losses in Catastrophic Personal Injuries Claims. Other topics included Legal Risk Management in Context, Digesting Recent Judgments and the Recently Implemented Third Party Funding of Arbitrations in the Hong Kong SAR.

Highlight of that afternoon was the ad hoc yet concise and distinct remarks on the subject of PPO given to the audience by Mr. Simon Lam (Executive Director of General Insurance, the Insurance Authority, also a member of the Committee formed for PPO by the Law Reform Commission).

Sharing here the extracted presentation pages and some photos taken at the event. The firm will continue with the keen effort in bringing to the closely associated general insurance community the updates in the relevant areas affecting the daily practice of the general insurance industry.

我行於2019年3月15日為來自保監會、香港保險業聯會及約28家其他保險公司、再保險公司及中介公司的約70名一般保險從業員舉辦了一次研討會。

研討會的主要議題是正在建議中的災難性人身傷害按期支付未來金錢損失賠款 (“PPO”)新法例。其他主題包括與一般保險相關的法律風險管理，近期的法庭判詞以及在香港特別行政區最近開始實施的第三者資助仲裁。

當天下午的亮點還是由保監會一般業務部執行董事林瑞江先生 (林先生也是法律改革委員會為PPO成立的委員會成員) 在PPO課題上即興為與會來賓所作的簡單而清晰的總結。

在這裡分享部份當日研討會的文稿及在活動中拍攝的一些照片。我行將繼續努力向關係密切的一般保險友儕提供影響一般保險業日常實踐的相關領域的最新情況。
