Robinson’s Legal Training Ltd. (RLT), was set up in 2012 to provide training support for law firms and lawyers in Hong Kong, China and South East Asia. From 2004 to 2012, Ian Robinson, Director of RLT, was the Lead Tutor and Course Manager of the Law Society of Hong Kong’s Risk Management Education Programme. He has delivered training courses to over 7,000 lawyers including “In House” courses for
nearly all the major Hong Kong Law firms. In Thailand recently delivered courses have been delivered for lawyers in True Corporation and Tilleke and Gibbins. At present RLT offers training and support in the following areas:
• “Legal English” – RLT offers a range of exercises and courses for non-native English speakers working in the legal profession who wish to achieve near native fluency in the specialised and highly technical language used by lawyers.
• Contract Law Workshop – This is aimed at non-native English speakers who wish to attain a greater understanding of the principles of contract law and the terminology used in that area.
• Legal Skills Workshop – This course will help young lawyers master a range of essential skills - interviewing skills, drafting skills, legal writing skills, negotiating skills, problem solving skills, personal management and organisational skills.
• Risk Management for Lawyers – This course will assist lawyers at all levels to understand the types of issues that give rise to claims and complaints and how those issues can be managed. It also looks at risk management in the areas of Anti Money Laundering and Conflicts of Interest. Research shows that as levels of understanding of risk issues increase, the number of claims and complaints against law firms are reduced.
• Document Review Service – RLT will review your documents to ensure they comply with modern “Plain English” practice. For more information about RLT's courses please visit www.legaltraining.com.hk
