We hereby wish to inform you about a responsibility of major importance for you and your Greek property.
So far in our area, the only system a property was registered was the land registry. A local office, where all deeds are registered by virtue of the name of the purchaser. Finally, we also have on Pelion the modern system of “Cadaster”, where all property rights are registered by virtue of the rights one has on a specific property. That means all properties will now be finally registered on an electronic map and we will be able to follow a property’s history in a contemporary way.
All property owners are invited to declare their property rights within a set period of time. That period is until 09/07/2018 for foreign residents and until 10/0/2018 for Greece residents.
The declaration is a bureaucratic and pretty complicated form.
The state fees for registering your property rights are the following:
35,- euros/ each property right
If someone owns more than 2 pieces of property outside the city/village plan, no further fees apply.
We kindly advise you not to deal with the issue at the last minute. It is not advisable to not declare your property rights within the given deadlines, that would mean that you could only claim your rights through court processes after that!
