The opposing club unilaterally terminated its agreement with our client, a professional basketball player, due to the suspension of the championship as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, without paying her the outstanding balance of her remuneration in the amount of USD 2,850.

Following the filing of our lawsuit no. 257/2023 before the Court of First Instance of Lefkada, the club promptly and amicably paid the amount of EUR 7,000 in order to avoid the further forfeiture of the contractual penalty stipulated in the agreement.

Την 9η Δεκεμβρίου 2025 υπεγράφη στo Ευρωκοινοβούλιο η Διακήρυξη για την Κοινωνική Προστασία των Αθλητών.

Το πόνημα προέκυψε μετά από έρευνες 5 ετών της Deutsche Sporthochschule Koln οι οποίες χρηματοδοτήθηκαν από την Ε.Ε. και συνιστά ορόσημο για την αναβάθμιση του status της απασχόλησης των αθλητών.

Η Διακύρυξη υπεγράφη μεταξύ άλλων από την Paulina Tomczyk, Γενική Γραμματέα του European Athletes and Players Association, και τον καθηγητή Manfred Lämmer, Πρόεδρο της European Olympic Academies.

Ο Κωνσταντίνος Παπαστεργίου ο οποίος συμμετείχε ως ερευνητής υπό την ιδιότητα του Greek national expert in sports law είχε την τιμή να παρευρεθεί στη συζήτηση που προηγήθηκε για την εφαρμογή.

On December 9, 2025, the Declaration on Athletes' Social Protection was signed at the European Parliament.

The document is the result of five years of research conducted by the Deutsche Sporthochschule Köln, funded by the European Union, and constitutes a milestone in upgrading the status of athletes' employment.

The Declaration was signed, inter alia, by Paulina Tomczyk, Secretary General of the European Athletes and Players Association, and Professor Manfred Lämmer, President of the European Olympic Academies.

Konstantinos Papastergiou, who participated as a researcher in his capacity as Greek national expert in sports law, had the honor of attending the preceding discussion on implementation.

We look forward with great interest to its practical integration.

The Thessaloniki Council of Misdemeanors, by its ruling no. 1095/2025, granted our application for the revocation of the restrictive measures prohibiting exit from the country and requiring periodic appearance at a police station, due to relocation abroad for professional reasons.

The ruling, which constructively addresses a significant social issue, was published in Poiniki Dikaiosyni (Criminal Justice) journal, issue 10/2025, pages 978–979, accompanied by a commentary by our associate, Marios Dimitriou Karras. ⚖️

Our office successfully achieved the issuance of the first Debt Discharge Act under the Insolvency Code (Law 4738/2020) by the Thessaloniki Court of First Instance. ⚖️

The act, numbered 536/2024, grants our client a full discharge from all debts without a bankruptcy declaration, solely through registration in the Electronic Insolvency Register.
