Our Partner, Pigi Konstantinou , recently joined senior legal leaders at the Royal Society of Arts in London for The Global Legal Post Fashion Law Round Table.
The session, “Legal Challenges: The Impact of AI on the Fashion Industry,” explored some of the most pressing legal questions at the intersection of fashion, technology and intellectual property.
The discussion focused on how fashion brands are using AI and generative AI tools in practice, the copyright implications of AI-generated creative output, and the potential liability risks when third-party content is used to generate new works. Participants also considered where responsibility may lie with the AI provider, the brand deploying the tool, or both and whether the current IP framework offers adequate remedies when AI replicates aesthetic styles without copying a specific protected work.
It was a valuable exchange on a fast-evolving area of law that is already reshaping the fashion industry and raising important questions for creators, brands and rights holders.
