Both Theoretical and Practical Driving License Exams Are Being Simplified
The rules and conditions for obtaining a vehicle driving license are changing. The relevant order was issued by the Minister of Internal Affairs, Sulkhan Tamazashvili.
According to the document, in the theoretical exam a driving candidate must score at least 25 points out of 30. Previously, a candidate was allowed to make only 3 mistakes.
In addition, starting from June 15 of this year, during the second stage of the practical exam for obtaining a Category B driving license, the limit for minor mistakes will increase from 12 to 15.
Under the previous rules, the 12th minor mistake automatically resulted in termination of the exam (considered a serious mistake). Under the new rules, a candidate will be allowed to make up to 14 minor mistakes, while the 15th mistake will result in termination of the exam.
> “In the theoretical exam for obtaining the right to drive Category B and Subcategory B1 vehicles, the driving candidate must answer 30 exam test questions (tickets). In order to receive a passing grade on the theoretical exam, the candidate must score at least 25 points within the 30 minutes allocated for electronic testing.
> Furthermore, in order to ensure the possible equal distribution of reservation slots among driving candidates waiting for the second stage of the practical exam, the Agency is authorized to develop an appropriate methodology/algorithm that will analyze the database of driving candidates and manage the reservation system based on priorities established by the Agency (for example: first attempt, fewer previous attempts, long waiting period for booking, etc.).
> The driving candidate will be given a reasonable amount of time by the examiner to repeatedly demonstrate the relevant skill or to correct the relevant mistake. For this purpose, the examiner will provide appropriate instructions to the candidate (for example: ‘Please check once again whether you are ready for road traffic’). The examiner’s instruction will be given in free narrative form; however, its content must correspond to the purpose of giving the candidate another opportunity to demonstrate the relevant skill. At the same time, the examiner is authorized to stop the examination vehicle or instruct the candidate to stop the examination vehicle. Mistakes may be recorded if, after being given the appropriate instruction, the candidate still fails to demonstrate the required skill,” the document states.
