As the temperatures drop, it’s important to keep your heating ticking over to help prevent frozen or burst pipes. Even setting your heating to a low, consistent level can make a big difference.

A quick winter checklist:
• Keep heating on a low, steady setting
• Open cupboard doors where pipes are hidden to allow warm air to circulate
• Know where your stop tap is located (just in case!)
• If you're away, ask someone to check the property from time to time
