Although younger parents with small children think of themselves as invincible, it is still very important to have a Will. Without a Will, the court will make decisions about your assets and the care of your children based on the laws of intestacy, that may or may not not align with your own wishes or what you believe is best for your children. Having a Will ensures that your assets are distributed according to YOUR wishes and that your children are taken care of by the people YOU choose. It is always good to have a Will in place, as it will help to avoid any uncertainty and gives you peace of mind.

Who is worthy of a Gift in your Will?

In our line of business a lot of people discuss their most personal thoughts about who they wish to leave their worldly belonging to when they pass on from this life.
Think of your life as a Tree. You are surrounded by many leaves, brightly flapping around for your attention, and each one taking a little bit of something from you. But when the seasons change and a cold spell arrives they will disappear under the strain of life’s head winds. Then there are the branches. They definitely stay with you longer than the leaves, and you can rely on them and they can take some stress, but even they under the extreme pressures of life can snap and disappear. Then there are the roots. They hold you firm, support you through all the seasons of your life. They keep you grounded. They never give up on you, no matter what . They nurture you just by being there. And if you look after your roots, somehow that goodness will end up being fed back to you. Everybody in your life is a leaf, a branch, or a root.
For your Will perhaps you should consider 1st Roots, 2nd Branches, 3rd Leaves.

Sideways Disinheritance can occur when a partner sadly dies, and the surviving partner goes on to later remarry. The children from the original relationship can be excluded from inheritance if there is no Will in place to ensure they inherit their natural parents assets. Without a Will everything may automatically pass to the family of the new wife or husband. A cruel outcome that results from failing to make provisions for your children in a Will.
