Following the celebration of International Women’s Day yesterday, we wanted to start the week by recognising and celebrating the incredible women across our team.

International Women’s Day 2026 is centred on a simple but powerful idea: “Give To Gain.” When we give support, knowledge, opportunity and encouragement, we create the conditions for progress. And when women thrive, the whole profession - and the communities we serve - thrive with them.

At Bradley Haynes Law, this principle is something we see in action every day. Today our Board of Directors includes six women out of nine members. While this is something we recognise with pride, it is not the result of a quota or a target. Instead, it reflects the expertise, leadership and commitment of the individuals who have helped shape the firm.

Across our practice we see colleagues giving in different ways to help others succeed:

• Giving time, through mentorship and guidance to junior colleagues as they develop their careers.

• Giving opportunity, by providing stretch assignments that challenge and grow the next generation of solicitors.

• Giving knowledge, sharing expertise so others can build confidence and capability.

• Giving protection and support, including colleagues who serve as Mental Health First Aiders.

• Giving access, through community engagement and support that helps people obtain legal advice who might otherwise struggle to do so.

Within the four walls of Bradley Haynes, the advancement of women in the legal profession is not viewed as unusual, it is simply a reflection of talent, dedication and leadership. Our role as a firm is to continue creating an environment where people can contribute, grow and support one another.

This International Women’s Day we celebrate the women across our team who lead, mentor, advocate and inspire. By giving their time, knowledge and leadership, they help ensure that opportunity within the legal profession continues to expand for those who follow.

When we give, we gain.

We have to share some feedback we received about our incredible receptionist, Julie. We would say that Julie really is the cherry on the cake – or as a client so perfectly put it, the icing on the cake! 🎂

She is hugely valued across the team and consistently goes above and beyond to support everyone who walks through our doors, whether clients, visitors, or colleagues.

We feel very lucky to have her as part of the Bradley Haynes Law team.

As we head into the weekend, we wanted to share a little behind-the-scenes moment from the office this week.

Yesterday, many of our team took part in hosting a Valentine’s-themed charity bake sale - the first of many fundraising events we’ll be holding over the coming months. It was fantastic to see everyone getting involved and supporting such an important cause.

We’re very proud to share that our CEO, Andrew Bradley, will be lacing up his running shoes to take on the London Marathon on 26th April, raising funds for Whizz Kidz.

Whizz Kidz believes every young wheelchair user deserves to be mobile, empowered and included.

Mobile: Providing high-quality, personalised wheelchairs and equipment tailored to each young person’s needs.

Empowered: Delivering services and confidence-building activities that give young people the skills and tools to live more independently.

Included: Campaigning alongside young wheelchair users to drive societal change and build a more inclusive world.

More than 75,000 young people in the UK need a wheelchair to be mobile, and many do not have access to equipment that is right for them. Without the right support, young wheelchair users can face social isolation, poor mental health and physical injury. Whizz Kidz provides the equipment, skills and confidence they need to live life as independently as possible - at home, at school, at work and beyond.

If you would like to support Andrew and help make a real difference, we would be incredibly grateful for your donation. Every contribution, no matter the size, will help create opportunities for young wheelchair users to go further.

Meet Tim, Trainee Solicitor of the Year, Worcestershire Law Society Awards (2025) - a passionate, compassionate, and determined legal professional making a real difference to our clients and colleagues alike.
Step into our office on any given day, and you’ll likely hear laughter, feel a burst of positive energy, and see clients being met with genuine care - that will mean Tim is working from the office! He lights up our workplace with warmth, empathy, and enthusiasm, bringing a spark of humanity to every interaction. Whether supporting vulnerable clients, guiding a colleague through a tough day, or offering reassurance to someone seeking help beyond our remit, Tim always finds time to listen, advise, and signpost where he can. His compassion is as natural as his professionalism.
Tim graduated from Swansea University in 2016 with an LLB (Hons) in Law (Upper Second Class) and went on to complete the Legal Practice Course at BPP University, Bristol, in 2018. He joined Bradley Haynes Law in October 2024 within the Litigation and Employment Team and is currently completing his training contract to become a qualified solicitor.
Before joining the firm, Tim gained valuable experience in costs, mental capacity work, and private client matters, as well as in family law, employment law, and civil litigation. This diverse background has given him a broad and empathetic understanding of the challenges clients face.
Tim’s path into law has been far from straightforward and all the more inspiring because of it. Law can be a demanding and, at times, unforgiving career. Many a lawyer has reflected on their choice during difficult days and having paused and later restarted his legal journey during Covid, Tim asked himself the same question too. But rather than stepping back, he stood strong. His determination, courage, and genuine passion for helping others reignited his commitment to legal practice and we are so glad that he stayed the course. That same drive has seen him go from strength to strength at the firm, becoming an indispensable member of our Family Law Team, a trusted advocate for vulnerable clients, helping shape innovative private client structures, and even offering free consultations to those in need.
Outside of work, Tim enjoys reading classic whodunnits and exploring England’s waterways with his partner and their beloved Akita-cross, Kiki. He brings the same warmth and curiosity to life beyond the office, supporting and caring for a sibling and contributing to inclusive community projects.
Tim can always be counted on for a listening ear and is due to complete his Mental Health at Work training shortly, further strengthening the support he provides to colleagues and clients alike. His presence uplifts us all, and his journey is a testament to perseverance, kindness, and the power of rediscovering one’s purpose.
We couldn’t be prouder of all he has achieved, and we’re even more excited to see what’s next as he qualifies in February and continues to grow into the exceptional solicitor, we know he will be!

Thank You to Our Conveyancers for Their Dedication as the Stamp Duty Land Tax Deadline Approaches

As we approach the final days before the Stamp Duty Land Tax (SDLT) deadline on March 31, we want to extend a huge thank you to all conveyancers across the UK for their hard work and commitment during this busy period. In particular, we are incredibly proud of our residential property team here at Bradley Haynes Law. Their efforts are making a significant impact, helping clients get across the finish line and ensuring that every detail is handled with precision and care.
The current increase in workload is not without its challenges, but our team continues to demonstrate exceptional dedication and good humour while ensuring all due diligence is completed for each transaction.

Changes Coming After the Deadline

As a reminder, there will be significant changes to the Stamp Duty rates once the temporary measures introduced by the government end on March 31, 2025. Here’s a quick overview of the key updates:

• Residential Property Purchases: The nil-rate threshold for SDLT will revert to £125,000 from the current temporary relief of £250,000. This means that purchasers will face higher SDLT rates on properties over £125,000.
• First-Time Buyers’ Relief: The threshold for First-Time Buyers’ Relief will reduce from £425,000 back to £300,000, with the maximum property value eligible for this relief also reducing from £625,000 to £500,000.
• Additional Dwellings: For individuals purchasing second homes or buy-to-let properties, as well as companies purchasing residential properties, the SDLT rates will return to the pre-relief rates. This means a higher burden of tax on additional properties, designed to disincentivise the purchase of second homes and buy-to-let properties, in favour of first-time buyers and those looking for a main home.

Why Are These Changes Being Made?

The government has announced these changes as part of a wider strategy to help increase the availability of housing for first-time buyers and those purchasing a primary residence. By increasing the SDLT on additional dwellings and making it more costly for companies and non-natural persons to acquire residential properties, the government hopes to ease pressure on the housing market and ensure that homes are available for people who need them most.
This policy is aimed at discouraging the accumulation of second homes and buy-to-let properties, which are often purchased by investors, and promoting homeownership for individuals and families. By increasing the cost of purchasing additional residential properties, the government intends to make it less financially attractive for investors and encourage more properties to be available for those looking for a main home.
This change also aims to level the playing field for first-time buyers, helping them to step onto the housing ladder without the added competition of investors and property speculators. The government’s goal is to create a fairer housing market where those who need homes to live in can access them more easily.

For more detailed information about the full policy changes, you can read the government’s policy paper here: Full Policy Paper on Stamp Duty Land Tax Changes

A great big Thank You.

A huge thank you to all our clients for your patience and understanding during this busy period! Your support in giving our conveyancers the time and space to focus on getting transactions close to completion before the SDLT deadline over the line has been amazing. We kindly ask for your continued cooperation in limiting update requests (agents, we appreciate you too!) while we prioritise helping those transactions reach the finish line. Don’t worry – as soon as we’ve got those over the line, we’ll turn our full attention to your matter and continue providing the excellent service you expect.

Lastly, a big shout-out to all the other conveyancers out there for their hard work and commitment – it’s shaping up to be a record month for residential property completions! We truly appreciate your understanding and support as we work hard to help everyone through this busy time!
