❌ MYTH: “My family knows what I want, so I don’t need a Will.”
✅ FACT: Your wishes aren’t legally guaranteed unless they’re properly set out in a valid Will.

It’s easy to assume that your family will know what you would want to happen when you die. But without a valid Will, your estate will generally be distributed according to the rules of intestacy – and the outcome may not reflect your wishes.

Making a Will allows you to:
✍🏻 Decide who should inherit your estate
👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Make appropriate provision for your family and loved ones
🔑 Choose who will deal with your estate
👶🏼 Appoint guardians for your children, where appropriate
💭 Clearly record your wishes and provide greater certainty for those you leave behind

Who would make decisions for you if you couldn’t? 💭

It’s something many of us don’t think about until we need to – but planning ahead can make things much easier for you and your family.

A Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA) allows you to choose people you trust to make certain decisions on your behalf if you are unable to make them yourself.

There are two types of LPA:
💷 Property and Financial Affairs – covering matters such as managing bank accounts, paying bills and dealing with property.
❤️ Health and Welfare – covering decisions about your care, medical treatment and where you live.

An LPA isn’t just something to consider in later life. An accident or illness can happen at any age, and having the right arrangements in place can provide valuable reassurance.
