It's Volunteers' Week, a chance to celebrate the incredible contribution volunteers make in our communities. 💙 At Surrey Choices, volunteering builds confidence, creates opportunities and makes a real difference.

Our EmployAbility service supported people into 320 volunteering opportunities, helping individuals develop skills and become active members of their communities.

Our Vocational Projects teams also contribute an incredible 404 hours of volunteering every week, in partnership with over 220 charities, organisations, and community groups.

The impact doesn't stop there as our teams have grown enough produce to make over 30 food bank donations, helping local people in need.

Thank you to everyone who volunteers and helps create stronger, more inclusive communities across Surrey. 👏

A huge congratulations to Joseph for representing the England Team in the Para section of the Senior Euro Karate Championships in Frankfurt, Germany.

After months of intensive training, Joseph achieved an impressive 9th place overall against some of the best athletes in Europe. An outstanding accomplishment in itself, made even more remarkable by his current world ranking of 25th.

Alongside his sporting success, it’s a pleasure for our EmployAbility team to support Joseph on his employment journey and see first-hand the same determination and commitment.

Well done, Joseph! A fantastic performance on the international stage. We look forward to seeing what’s next for you 🇬🇧

We love a creative hobby 🧶✨

Alice recently completed her travel training and is now independent, thriving in her love of wool, and making new friends along the way through her Knit & Natter group. Go Alice! 🙌

🏡 We are excited to be exploring the opportunity to take on Moorcroft Community Centre in Woking.

Our vision is to create a welcoming and inclusive community space. It would provide activities and opportunities for people with learning disabilities and neurodivergence. We also want the centre to be a place where local groups, families and residents can come together, connect and take part in community activities.

If you live in Woking or nearby, please take 30 seconds to complete our survey:

Our Employability Young People’s team were invited to the Buckingham Palace Duke of Edinburgh Gold Celebration Garden Party this week! We were very proud to be nominated by Surrey Outdoor Learning & Development, who we have worked closely with for the past five years to establish and develop our Bronze and Silver The Duke of Edinburgh's Award for disabled and neurodivergent young people in Surrey. Moments like these show the impact of creating opportunities that help people grow in confidence, build connections, and achieve amazing things. 💙👏
Good luck to our Future Choices students as they prepare for their final expedition in June. We’re all cheering you on! 👏🎒✨

Helping make Surrey more accessible, one visit at a time 💫

On Global Accessibility Awareness Day, the Choices Waves team is proud to launch their accessibility tour, visiting venues across Surrey to help improve access and inclusion for people with disabilities.

First stop: Guildford Spectrum Leisure Complex 📍

The team explored the facilities and tested accessibility features, including the pool hoists. Their feedback will help support positive changes and make sites more accessible for everyone.

Thank you to the Freedom Leisure team for being so welcoming, supportive and open to hearing new ideas 💙

The team in Redhill co-hosted a community event with our friends from The Garibaldi, raising money for the Down’s Syndrome Association. 💙

This Mental Health Awareness Week, it’s a great reminder of how important community, inclusion, and spending time together can be for our wellbeing. The day was full of music from our Choices Waves DJs, karaoke, games, raffle prizes, and lots of cake. 🍰🎤
