Apparently, I photograph light, a lot…
Looking through my camera roll, I realised how often I photograph light and what it’s doing, the feeling and shapes it creates rather than the thing itself.
Living in a Devon longhouse, you learn to grab every beam of light you can, so perhaps that’s why.
But after years of walking through other people’s homes, it’s always the first thing I notice. The shadows, trees, golden hours, how architects deliberately create light and shade and how, seemingly by accident, old buildings get it so right.
Never appearing on the particulars, yet for me, the thing that makes somewhere feel magical.
