Why use a Family Solicitor?

When a relationship breaks down, as well as dealing with the emotional impact, couples inevitably have to consider the financial consequences. To save costs, some couples try to sort things out themselves, relying on friends “advice” or high-profile cases. But what are the pitfalls of going at it alone?

-No two cases are the same
-Important assets, like pensions are often overlooked
-Informal agreements may not be final, binding or enforceable

So why get legal advice?

-Expertise – A solicitor knows what to ask and what a fair settlement looks like
-Certainty – Agreements can be properly recorded to avoid future claims
-Enforceability – Legal agreements can be enforced if one party doesn’t comply

For most people, there’s only one chance to get a financial settlement right. Early advice can prevent costly mistakes and future disputes and it doesn’t mean automatically going to court.

At AMD Solicitors, we encourage resolving matters by agreement, backed by clear, practical legal advice.
