Do you need to send in a copy of a death certificate of a donor or attorney to the OPG when notifying them of a death?

The simple answer is, no! You can contact the OPG by email or telephone to update them, however, if they are unable to verify the death, they will request more information.

We all are getting older and today as I stroke Wonder I am reminded about our changing needs as we age.

In the past few months we have seen my partner's dog Wonder slow down as she is now 12. We have had to adapt where we go, what we do and what we feed her to make sure her needs and her likes are fully provided for and that she continues to feel safe, secure and have enjoyment in her elderly years. Today I am excited for my daughter as she is in the process of setting up her art business and the first batch of her cards have arrived.

These past 18 months have been so tough for many people and covid certainly has impacted on all of us in many ways. My teenage daughter developed CFS and so she hasn't been able to finish her A levels. She has always been amazing at art and so she has decided to focus her energy on doing something positive to help her get through this difficult time. I could not be prouder!

Truthfully life throws all sorts at us and so it is important to be as prepared as we can to not only protect ourselves but also our loved ones. I am passionate about helping people getting the right legal advice and support to put things in place to alleviate any worries should life be unpredictable, just like with my daughter who now faces huge health issues we never anticipated.

I am delighted much needed reforms are being considered by the OPG and I hope to see these reforms being put into place, especially with regard to witnessing and being able to fast track urgent applications for those who have suddenly had health condition changes.

Today I received lots of cuddles from this gorgeous one whilst I sat drinking my morning coffee. I have to confess, she melts my heart when she cuddles in!

Having loved ones to treasure and love us is so important to our wellbeing, and our pets are certainly part of the family and bring immense joy.

When you are getting your affairs in order do remember to raise about your pets and where you would like them to go if you lose capacity or when you do pass away. They need to have your protection even when you are not able to be present.

Sometimes we put off things because we believe that they are difficult or we busy ourselves with other things and say we are just too busy, there are too many other things that need doing. I know as I can be like that!

Today I sat by St Mary’s lighthouse in the glorious sunshine and remembered that it took me 13 years after the birth of my daughter to write my Will just because I didn't know who I would trust enough to be her guardians if I passed away before she reached 18 years of age! I smile now of course, and thankfully we are still alive 😁. At the time of getting my Will drafted I remember the relief when I signed it before two independent witnesses as I knew my worries were put to rest.

So today, enjoy the sunshine and perhaps also grasp the moment to tackle something you are putting off.
