Did You Know?

On 1 May 2026 the Renters’ Rights Act 2025 will come into effect. Private residential Landlords must give existing Tenants a Renters’ Rights Act Information Sheet 2026 or a written statement of terms and information relating to the tenancy. Failure to provide the relevant documentation by 31 May 2026 may result in fines of up to £4,000!

Are you a Landlord?

From 1 May 2026 the Renters’ Rights Act will come into effect. This means that residential landlords will no longer be able to use the Section 21 route to obtain possession of residential property as Section 21 will be abolished from 1 May 2026. Landlords will instead only be able to obtain possession of residential property through Section 8 of the Housing Act 1988.

Rutherfords LLP supported the Make a Will Month during October raising £3,000 for St Giles Hospice in Whittington.

St Giles Hospice is a registered charity providing individually-tailored care for patients living either cancer, motor neurone disease, heart failure, multiple sclerosis and other serious illnesses.

The dedicated team at St Giles provides specialist care free of charge either at the hospice or at home.

Rutherfords LLP are seeking to recruit a full-time legal secretary in our Litigation Department at our Ventura House office in Tamworth. This position is based in the office and the hours are 9am - 5pm.

Previous experience of working in a legal environment would be advantageous but is not essential.

Duties to include:

- Fast and accurate typing
- Arranging appointments
- Liaising with clients
- Ability to multitask and prioritise tasks effectively
- Excellent organisational and time management skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Reception cover at lunchtimes and as and when required
