Wiltshire Live discussion on FB:

In fact, if you fall asleep in your motorhome after drinking and are found to be over the legal limit, you could be charged with being in charge of a vehicle while unfit through alcohol, an offence that can carry fines, points, or even a driving ban.

This US happening below very aligns with DVLA practices:

Withdrawing clear UK full driving license (exchanged from EU) and blocking sharecode of clean full UK driving licenses (disputing data on it and without accepting evidence of data) or taking years for ID verification processes.

Kepping people without driving license and ID:

In 2025, Google gave Amandla Thomas-Johnson's data to ICE without giving him the chance to challenge the subpoena, breaking a nearly decade-long promise to notify users before handing their data to law enforcement.

What this shows

1. Most rejected petitions are duplicates

The most common reason for rejection is that the same or similar petition already exists. Parliament confirms this is the most frequent reason.

So in the table:

* Duplicate = X is the biggest pattern.

⸻

2. “Not Government Responsibility” is the second biggest

These include petitions asking Government to control:

* sports league outcomes
* private debt contracts
* honours decisions
* individual family arrangements

These are often outside the direct powers of Parliament or Government, so rejected.

⸻

3. “Contradicts Existing Law” is less common

Examples:

* asking driving instructors to fine drivers
* forcing private debt cancellation

These conflict with:

* enforcement law
* contract law
* statutory authority

⸻

4. “No Clear Action” happens when wording is vague

Example:

* “Create more career opportunities for sufferers of lazy eye”

It lacks a specific legislative request.

Local Government Oversight

Although councils manage local services, the Government controls:

* council funding frameworks
* council tax rules
* housing regulations
* planning law
* local government legislation

⸻

Important limitation:

A petition cannot usually demand action in matters that are:

* private disputes
* court judgments
* decisions made independently by judges
* individual company complaints
* local operational decisions of councils unless asking for a change in national law/policy
* matters outside UK jurisdiction

For example:

❌ “Force my council to reverse my individual fine”
✅ “Change the law on how councils issue fines for covenant breaches”

The second is valid because it asks the UK Government to change legislation, which is within its power.
