The family court is set to become more open and transparent, according to proposals by the President of the Family Division.

He said ‘The time has come for accredited media representatives and legal bloggers to be able, not only to attend and observe family court hearings, but also to report publicly on what they see and hear,’

I’ve seen various different views on this today, so what are your thought? Do you think it’s a good thing, or are you worried about the possibility of journalists being present in your family case?

This is an interesting development and it will be a fantastic change if it’s brought in.

Of course, there will still be people who aren’t able to report during the new time-frame (we totally understand that domestic abuse is notoriously difficult to even discuss, let alone report, when you’re experiencing it).

But this change could be of huge benefit to many people experiencing domestic abuse.
