Whilst both professions are involved in the legal transfer of property, there are some slight differences between the two.
Licensed conveyancers are regulated by the Council for Licensed Conveyancers (CLC). Their extensive legal training has been focused purely on property law which means they are specialists when it comes to conveyancing.
Solicitors are regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA). Solicitors are trained in different branches of the law and then qualify into one main area of the law.
One main difference is that under their regulatory body, two different Licensed Conveyancers at one firm can each act for both seller and buyer in one transaction. This can do wonders for the process and the time it takes for the transaction to complete.
