Have you ever thought about who would raise your children if you couldn’t?

It’s not an easy question, and it’s certainly not something any parent wants to imagine.

But choosing someone you trust to care for your children is one thing. Making sure you’ve formally appointed them is another.

Estate planning isn’t about expecting the worst. It’s about making sure that, if the unexpected happens, you’ve done what you can to protect the people you love most.

It’s a difficult conversation, but an important one. 💚

A night to celebrate, a moment to be proud of, and a reminder of how far Sam Featherstone - Trusted Law has come! ✨

I may not have taken home an award from the Peterborough Small Business Awards 2026, but being nominated in two categories - Professional Services Small Business and Customer Care - feels like a win in itself. 💚

Starting and growing a business takes a lot of hard work, determination and belief in what you’re doing. To be recognised in two areas that mean so much to me is genuinely special.

I’ve always wanted Sam Featherstone - Trusted Law to be about more than just writing Wills. It’s about helping people feel informed, supported and confident when making important decisions for themselves and their families. Knowing that the care I put into my work has been recognised makes me incredibly happy. 💚

There’s nothing quite like receiving lovely feedback from a client 💚

For me, estate planning isn’t about simply ticking a box and writing a Will. It’s about taking the time to understand what matters to you, explaining your options clearly, and making sure your wishes are properly reflected in your plans.

So when a client takes the time to leave a review like this, it genuinely means a lot.

F is for Family Protection 💚

When most people think about estate planning, they think about what happens to their money and property when they die.

But actually, it’s so much more than that.

It’s about the people you leave behind.

Who would look after your children?

Who would make decisions for you if you couldn’t?

Would your partner be protected?

Would your family know what you wanted?

And would they know where to find everything they needed?

None of us particularly enjoy thinking about the what ifs. I completely understand that.

But putting the right plans in place means that, if the worst did happen, your family wouldn’t also have to deal with uncertainty about what you would have wanted.

You can’t make everything easy for them.

But you can make some things clearer.

And sometimes, that’s one of the kindest things you can do. 💚

Last night was the Rutland & Stamford Mercury Business Awards, where I was really pleased to be a finalist for Best New Start-Up.

I didn’t win on this occasion but I’m still really proud to have made it to the final, especially as Sam Featherstone - Trusted Law is still such a new business. It’s a lovely feeling to have the work I’ve put into it recognised.

Huge congratulations to Wildwood Pets Stamford on taking home the award, and to all of the other finalists and winners. It was a great night and lovely to see so many brilliant local businesses being celebrated.

When making your Will, you’ll need to choose someone to carry out your wishes.

That person is your Executor.

They’re responsible for dealing with your estate after you die, from sorting out your assets and debts to making sure your estate is distributed according to your Will.

It’s an important job, so choosing someone you trust is key.

What would be your reason? 👀

This week, these are just some of the reasons I’ve heard from people who decided it was finally time to put their Wills in place.

Three completely different reasons, but they all come down to the same thing:

Making sure your wishes are known and the people you love are protected. 💚

There really isn’t a “right” time to make a Will.

But if you’ve been thinking “we really should get one sorted…” perhaps that’s your reason.

So, what would be yours?

What an amazing way to end the week… ✨

I’m absolutely delighted to share that Sam Featherstone- Trusted Law has been named a finalist in the Best New Start-Up category at the Rutland and Stamford Mercury Business Awards.

To be recognised alongside so many fantastic local businesses is something I’m incredibly proud of. Over the last couple of years, Trusted Law has grown so much, and that’s all thanks to every client who has trusted me with something so important.
