When making your Will, you’ll need to choose someone to carry out your wishes.

That person is your Executor.

They’re responsible for dealing with your estate after you die, from sorting out your assets and debts to making sure your estate is distributed according to your Will.

It’s an important job, so choosing someone you trust is key.

This week, these are just some of the reasons I’ve heard from people who decided it was finally time to put their Wills in place.

Three completely different reasons, but they all come down to the same thing:

Making sure your wishes are known and the people you love are protected. 💚

There really isn’t a “right” time to make a Will.

But if you’ve been thinking “we really should get one sorted…” perhaps that’s your reason.

What an amazing way to end the week… ✨

I’m absolutely delighted to share that Sam Featherstone- Trusted Law has been named a finalist in the Best New Start-Up category at the Rutland and Stamford Mercury Business Awards.

Who would make decisions for you if you couldn’t?

If your answer is “my family,” you might be surprised.

The law doesn’t automatically give loved ones the authority to step in, even if they’re your spouse or your children.

It’s one of the biggest misconceptions I come across, and one that can leave families facing unnecessary stress at an already difficult time.

✅ Fact: It isn’t always that simple.

Blended families often need more careful estate planning because there are multiple relationships to consider.

Without a properly drafted Will, your estate may not be distributed in the way you intended, potentially leaving children from previous relationships without the protection you expected.

A Will allows you to decide who inherits what, giving you much greater control and helping to avoid unintended outcomes.
