The St Andrews Law Journal

The St Andrews Law Journal Interested in learning more about law through independent study? The St Andrews Law Journal is an official publication for legal study in St Andrews.

We welcome articles from a wide range of cross-disciplinary methodologies and perspectives. The St Andrews Law Journal is an official research publication published under the auspices of the Institute of Legal and Constitutional Research, University of St Andrews. We guide and encourage our contributors to work independently on developing papers that study subjects in historic and contemporary ana

lytical lenses. Whether an unknown legal issue, a jurisprudential concept, or recent judicial or legislative ruling, we want our contributors to become impassioned about a subject that is not widely accessible, in-faculty, at the University of St Andrews. Our object is not just to find the nuances in preexisting works of ‘law in the humanities’, but use a multidisciplinary approach to analyse the legal matters our contributors are passionate about. The editors would love to hear from you your ideas and initiatives, contributing to the development of our own corpus of legal study here at Scotland's most historic university.

Send your 250-word applications to lawjournal@st-andrews.ac.uk. Applications close on May 23rd.

The Editors are delighted to present Zeb Micic's paper, 'The Law of Treasure in England and Scotland', as the St Andrews Law Journal's latest release!

In his paper, Zeb discusses historic interpretations of treasure law, beginning with Edward the Confessor's English laws on treasure, before recommending modifications to the current law on treasure in England and Scotland.

Zeb's piece will be included in our upcoming End-of-Year Issue, for which the Law Journal will soon be accepting a fresh round of abstracts and papers.

Find Zeb's paper on the Journal's website below:

Our Call for abstracts has been extended until Friday (12th) 5PM!!!
We are accepting the submission of abstracts that outline a final paper and are no longer than 350 words (max). Some links to formatting policies can be found below.

Abstracts are used to best help prospective contributors with focussing the idea for their paper within a legal context, at an early stage of the writing process.
If your abstract is successful - once your abstract has undergone review and feedback has been provided - you will be invited to submit a final paper. A completed first draft of the final paper should be submitted by December 13th.
