Browns Solicitors was established in 2015 when Liddell + Company offered the high street element of their firm to Jane Elgar and Jane Lodeto. Liddell + Company took over the long established Benfleet firm of John Brown and Company in 2007. Jane Lodeto is the current Director and has always lived in Benfleet. Jane Elgar, solicitor, who was born and lives in Stock runs our Billericay office. We ther

efore have strong links both past and present with the local area and local people. Our aim is to provide excellent legal services to the local community in a friendly, approachable and empathetic way. We have traditional values but a modern outlook and way of providing our services. Our lawyers provide a service that caters for you the individual. Every client has different needs and we work hard to get to know you so that we can provide you with the very best service and advice and an outcome that is value for money. We are committed to customer service and are happy to provide ‘out of hours’ appointments to cater for our clients. We are regularly open on a Saturday morning and can offer appointments in the evening during the week. We have well placed premises at Tarpots, Benfleet with parking and the High Street, Billericay. We can offer appointments for all services at the Benfleet Office, remotely or, where required, offer home visits to local areas.

A wonderful evening at Weir View House🙏

We recently partnered up with Browns Solicitors to host an informative talk for our community, discussing wills, inheritance tax, lasting powers of attorney, and funeral planning.

These aren't always the easiest topics to think about, but having the right information can bring real peace of mind, both for you and for those you love. It was lovely to see so many people come along, ask questions, and take that first step in planning ahead.

When legal professionals engage with parents in ways that heighten conflict or increase uncertainty, children feel the impact directly. Every conversation, every decision, and every professional interaction with a parent has a ripple effect on the child at the centre. For this reason, legal practice cannot solely focus on the adult parent; it must also recognise both the emotional and practical consequences for the children whose lives are being shaped by the changes taking place in their family.

We try to highlight to our clients how decisions affect the children. Slowly progress is being made for all family lawyers to work this way and try and remove the animosity and needless disputes and legal expenses.
