The Sidcup Partners BID

The Sidcup Partners BID The BID is funded by a small ‘levy’ on businesses within the area, based on the rateable value of their property.

The Sidcup Partners BID (Business Improvement District) is a business-led and business funded body formed to support the community and economic growth in Sidcup. In November 2016, the businesses in Sidcup voted in favour of creating a Business Improvement District (BID) and paying an annual contribution to help fund additional projects, services and events that would improve the local environment

for the benefit of the community, businesses, employees and visitors alike. This raises in the region of £167,000 each year during the five-year term, so approximately £835,000 in total. This money will be used to promote Sidcup, to enhance the experience for visitors, to enable businesses to work together and to provide services to reduce business overheads. BID services are additional to those provided by the Council, Police and other providers. The Sidcup BID includes approximately 400 levy payers including well-known brands and organisations in the retail, leisure, hospitality and public sectors. We are an independent, non-profit company limited by guarantee. All the projects and services we deliver are additional to – not in place of – those already provided by the London Borough of Bexley. Our key aim is to raise the profile of Sidcup as a safe, clean, attractive and well-regarded destination for businesses, residents and visitors alike.

Update .

Stuart Tickner "lit up any room he walked into and was a bubbly, joyful soul". The 50-year-old died in hospital days after being assaulted outside a pub in Sidcup.

Stuart was found unconscious in Station Road at about 1am on Monday, May 25. He was taken to hospital in a life-threatening condition by London Ambulance Service paramedics but sadly died from five days later.

His daughter, Megan Tickner, paid tribute to him on Facebook, saying: “It is with a heavy heart and immense sadness that I am having to share that we lost my Dad on Saturday May 30.

“A week ago, he was unfortunately a victim of a serious assault which left him with head injuries which were so severe he could not recover from them.

“He lit up any room he walked into and was a bubbly, joyful soul. I will cherish the memories of us going to concerts together and singing karaoke.

“I’ll love and miss you always Dad.”

A 36-year-old man is currently under arrest on suspicion of attempted murder, the force said. He presented at hospital one day after the fatal attack and continues to receive medical treatment.

Superintendent Kier Newman, of the South East Borough Command Unit, said: "Our thoughts are with the victim’s loved ones following this tragic incident.

"The initial assault occurred outside a public house on a residential road, and we are keen to speak to anyone in the area who witnessed anything."

Anyone with information is urged to call police on 101, quoting reference 434/25MAY. Anonymous reports can be made to Crimestoppers via 0800 555 111.
