This weekend, Taylor Emmet is proud to be the media sponsor of the Amber Valley Pickleball Invitational at the Derby Arena, helping bring live streaming and commentary from the show court to audiences throughout the weekend.

The tournament brings together some of the best pickleball clubs from across the UK and continues to showcase the rapid growth of the sport and its fantastic community.

Even more fittingly, the tournament’s second day falls on International Women’s Day, and we’re delighted that Amy Harris, Head of Property Litigation, will be competing as part of the action. With women’s pairs, men’s pairs, mixed pairs and an elite club competition all part of the expanded format this year, it promises to be a brilliant celebration of sport and inclusion.

With clubs travelling from across the country, it’s set to be an exciting weekend of high-level competition and a great atmosphere.

In a keenly anticipated Judgment the Supreme Court has today ruled that children are no longer excluded from “lost years” damages which have long been available to adults.

This puts right a historic injustice and brings children’s rights into line with adults’ rights in negligence cases.

To highlight the unfairness in the way the law worked, if someone was injured as a baby but waited until they were an adult to bring their case, they could then make a claim for lost years damages. This was felt to be illogical and unjust.
