It’s been glorious weather these past few days, and it’s definitely getting us excited for our Summer BBQ this June ☀️🍔

We’re delighted to be bringing back the Bhayani Summer BBQ for the Master Cutler’s Challenge in support of Weston Park Cancer Charity.

One in two of us will face cancer at some point in our lives. Weston Park Cancer Charity provides essential support, care and pioneering research to help people live with and beyond cancer. This year’s fundraising supports their “See it. Treat it.” appeal, helping to bring a life-saving MRI Simulator to Sheffield. 💜

Yesterday we hosted our HR & Employment Law Annual Conference 2026, and what a great day it was!

It was fantastic to see so many attendees, both familiar clients and new faces, engaging throughout the sessions, with plenty of insightful questions and discussions. The level of interaction really highlighted just how important these topics are for businesses right now.

❗A key takeaway from the day is that preparing for the Employment Rights Act 2025 reforms is essential. As our attendees now know, trade unions are set to have a growing impact across all organisations, making it more important than ever to stay informed and proactive.

The details of the Employment Rights Act reforms are now becoming clearer. For employers, the focus is shifting from what might change to what needs reviewing now.

What we are seeing in practice is that the risk is rarely obvious. It often sits quietly in older employment contracts, probationary terms, absence procedures or consultation processes that simply haven’t been revisited for some time.

Even organisations with well-established HR practices are finding that when they look closely, there are areas that don’t fully align with the new direction of travel. Small gaps in wording or process can quickly become areas of exposure

🚨 Employment Rights Act 2025 – Timeline Update

The Government has announced further changes to the implementation dates under the Employment Rights Act 2025.

Recent updates include:
❗ Fire and rehire reforms pushed back to 2027
❗ Employment Tribunal time limits now no earlier than October 2026
❗ Electronic and workplace trade union balloting no earlier than August 2026
❗ Unfair dismissal qualifying period cut to 6 months from January 2027, with the compensation cap removed
❗ Fair Work Agency launch date confirmed as 7 April 2026

While some changes have moved back, others are now fixed, and the overall direction of travel hasn’t changed.

Employers should be using this time to review policies, contracts and management capability, rather than waiting for final regulations.
