For decades, drink driving has been viewed as one of the most serious motoring offences in the UK. However, new figures suggest a shift is taking place. According to recent data, more drivers received licence endorsements for drug driving than drink driving in 2025 for the first time on record, with a worrying increase in offences among younger drivers aged 17 to 24.

Today marks the 1st Anniversary of Sills & Betteridge Incorporating Bell & Buxton.

On 1st September 2025, Bell & Buxton Solicitors joined Sills & Betteridge Solicitors LLP, bringing together two Legal 500 firms with deep roots in their communities.

The merger created one of Sheffield’s most experienced and skilled legal teams, offering a comprehensive range of personal and commercial legal services. The combined firm stands at more than 400 staff across 16 offices in Yorkshire, Lincolnshire and the East Midlands.

It has been a great year!

In February four teams were shortlisted at the Sheffield & District Law Society Awards, winning Private Client Team of the Year for the second time.

Then in May we relocated from Telegraph House to New Oxford House on Barker's Pool, putting the whole Sheffield team (including Acclaimed Family Law) under one roof.
